Im going to be looking in to purchasing a new sound system for my computer. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I am willing to spend around $200, but I more than likely need to buy a new sound card too. Thanks in advance for any information.

I wouldn't send any money on speakers for my computer. It'd encourage downloading. I'd buy a new system for my car.

...I'm not help, am I?

I listen to the majority of the music from my computer. I have it in my room and its just easier to make a huge playlist.

My computer's sound system is hooked up to both the speakers I had on my old soundsystem and the speakers from my gf's. It's kinda patchwork/ghetto but it plays music through our bedroom and the main room dealie, and if you dont want it in one you can just unplug one of the sets of speakers so it works well. A better sound card helps a bunch, I definitely noticed a change when I bought my new computer.

I just realized that none of that was of any help... but oh well

Never buy Bose speakers. Waste of money for overhyped crap. get a soundcard with digital outs and run it into a receiver which should be powering real speakers, "bookshelf, or tower." I have a media center pc hooked up to my home theater reciever and my tv. I get video from my computer displayed on my tv, and audio out of the main speakers. If you already have a receiver and speakers in your room this is easy and cheap. you only need a soundcard that has a digital coaxial, optical, or even just rca's. Use whatever your exisitng reciever can take. The cost of this is only the cost of the soundcard and a cable. it will most likely sound better too, as long as your exisitng equipment isnt total shit.
