What were the best for you guys?

For me its:

East of the Wall - S/T
Russian Circles - Enter
Skeletonbreath - Louise
Stolen Babies - There Be Squabbles Ahead
Threat Signal - Under Reprisal

I'd have to listen to all of them more to choose a best though. Not nearly as good as 2005 which had Protest the Hero, Becoming the Archetype and Gospel :(

If we're talking full-length debuts:
Syth - Warzone (oh yes)
Cellador - enter Deception

I guess Beyond Fear was ok.

The best for me, by far, is Ikuinen Kaamos - The Forlorn.

Next in line are Cellador, Beyond Fear and Canopy. I'd also mention a decent debut from Romania's first and only viking metal band: Bucovina - Ceasul aducerii aminte. I dislike Threat Signal. These are all the debut albums I heard this year.

The only debuts I know about are: Cellador, Degree Absolute, and Stolen Babies. All are good in their own way.

Do check out the Whore of Bethlehem. I think a DM-head like you would definitely like it. Very brutal BM with not a hint of wimpiness.

Cellador - Enter Deception

It's hardly the most original album out there, but they give Dragonforce a damn good run for their money in pace and technique! I reckon Dragonforce will improve because of these guys, because you need some rivalry in Metal. In the 80's, Megadeth and Metallica were definiately better bands for their rivalry...

Brother Firetribe! The album is pure fun. Devil's Daughter would have been a hit single had it been released in 1984.

Oh man, totally forgot about them, that was a solid slab of hard rock.
