I won't listen to this much, since I'm that way about drone, but of the few albums I've heard in the genre it was the best. actually my friend described it best:

Quote:
This is pretty much the best experience I've had with drone metal to date. The pieces are eerie and atmospheric without ever being too abraisive, there are some clear signs of compositional progression, and they even throw a gorgeous ballad right in the middle of the album just to mix it up. Still not something I'll ever find myself listening to with any kind of frequency, but it's given me a strong insight into the appeal of this style.

I liked this one a lot! Some easy drone, although The Angelic Process was easier on me. I liked that one better, but this one fits the great review.

Oh mine, these 2 together, if one was already ultra-slow, I can't even imagine how slow is ultra-slow + ultra-slow.... it's like "this-is-so-boring-I'm-gonna-kill-myself-even-before-the-song-ends" slow.

Maybe you should, hmm I don't know, LISTEN to it before making a ridiculous comment like that.

Bottom line, it's drone, pure and simple. If you don't like the genre in the first place, why come in hear and trash this album before even giving it a chance?

Brilliant, brilliant album. If you don't like this, and this is the easiest bit of Drone I've ever heard, you'll never like it.

Oh, and Radical Cut's a coward. :P

Because the forums are not only to say pretty things about the bands, so stop picking on me.

I'm not picking on you. It's not my fault that you're begging for it with comments like that. I realize that the forum is not only for saying "pretty things", but you could at least make a semi-worthwhile negative statement. For example, if you came in here and said something to the effect of "I just can't get into drone. I listened to this, and it's just not my thing. In fact, it bored me to tears.", I wouldn't mind. Instead, you came in and dropped a generalistic shitbomb without even listening to the album first! So do me a favor, if you want me to "stop picking on you", then stop making needless posts about whether or not an album is a full length or how much you think an album you haven't even listened to sucks. Otherwise, go away.

Adam-I have a question for you. I recently heard both SunnO)))'s Black One album and Boris's Akuma No Uta album and didn't enjoy either, should I bother checking this out or is the music here very similar?

What didn't you like about each? This isn't quite as eerie and evil as Black One, plus the addition of Boris (improved guitar, drums, etc.) makes it more interesting to me. Like Zad said, this is probably as accessible a drone album as you'll find. Honestly, though, the best thing is to click on the link in the review for Southern Lord's website. I believe you can hear all the tracks there. Check out Etna and Akuma No Kuma and let me know what you think.

EDIT: Actually, those samples don't give you a great idea, especially on Akuma No Kuma. Try it anyway. If you're intrigued, I'll post a link for a full sample.

Ok, thanks for the response. I'll try it anyway, since you and Zad agree this is very accessible for drone.
