Hey I'm new to this forum, and i'll start off by saying that i've been out of the loop for awhile. I havent had much in the way of the internet in a few years, and have barely even been able to track the new stuff from my favorite bands. And so to get me started back up I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good new bands. I pretty much like all genres and usually prefer something with a good melody. Plus i have a certain soft spot for unique/folk/weird bands , ie; finntroll, battlelore, sigh, elvenking etc...

Eluveitie is great. Swiss-celtic folk metal. Done excellently.

I would suggest you just check out the genre forums. There's plenty of information there. Threads like this generally don't help aside from becoming totally overwhelming and nonsensical.

Yes however a list of stuff would be fine, i can look into them at my leisure. I'm merely looking for good bands that have made themselves known recently.

There are also many threads asking this very same question on the forums.

I agree with Frigid and Eyesore.
