So yeah, what y'all think of this? Is it good or bad? What about the method that was used?

Indifferent. He was a worthless human being, but I found it hard to watch so much news coverage on a fucking impending hanging! A bit too morbid for me; is there anything better worth watching?

A bunch of skanks yelling at each other about "who fucked their man" on MTV, but it's probably not that much better.

Good news. Fox News and CNN are now beginning to show footage of the actual hanging. :lame: There's something simply sick about all of this.

Execute him, and leave the discussion to words. I don't need to see that shit on my TV. That's not news.

That IS news Ken. It just means that the news that manages to get on TV is utter shit.

Damn. I was hoping they wouldn't show footage. I thought better of them than that, for some weird reason. Totally tasteless. I don't want to see a hanging, keep it off my goddamn news.

Hmmmm don't really approve of the death penalty but perhaps in this case it's for the best... It is Saddam Hussein after all.

the news here said that they decided to hang him as opposed to, say, a firing squad death, because the later is a military execution, while the former is for common criminals.

anyway, i think the whole trial was a joke. the final charge (murder of 100 and something villagers, ridiculous). i don't see the point in wasting time and money setting up a fancy little court with laywers and evidence and all that shit. HE WAS A BRUTAL DICTATOR AND A DISGUSTING HUMAN BEING! everyone knows.

there was no need for a trial or for any of that bullshit. meanwhile with all this stupid BS he had time to make a big furry deal out of the whole thing and die a "martyr's death" in the eyes of his followers.

a simple headshot the moment they found him would have suficed.

people are stupid.

Good riddance. But, hanging is too short a punishment. He should've suffered more. Anyway, one more burden off the face of the Earth.

Everyone is entitled to a fair trial. There would have been a huge uproar by his followers if they didn't follow this.

Anyway
I've sat here for a good few minutes thinking, "What exactly do I think about this?"

And I've come to this conclusion: I either a) don't have thoughts on it, or b) I cannot piece my thoughts together in a rational form and base an opinion on them.

Yeah--imagine the outrage if he was executed without trial.

Anyways, he deserves to be dead, and "good riddance" as Thy Serpent said.

but he did get a trial! and his followers are still outraged!

these extremist pieces of shit care more about the result than the trial itself, no matter how fair the trial was as long as the outcome was unfavourable (i.e. saddam gets an early trip to hell to join all the other dictators) they'd still be outraged.

there's no point in trying to show lessons of maturity to people who are unwilling to learn anyway.

I was only stating how ridiculous your theory would be if there was no trial.

Perhaps they're outraged by the fact that he got the death penalty, rather than a life sentence.

er, so if they're angry when there is a trial, what difference would it make TO THEM if there wasn't a trial?

also, they were making trouble before the guy was even caught. they want nothing less that saddam back in power (tough shit).

Ofcourse his followers want him back in power, which is why they're called followers. Given that over six hundred thousand people have died since the war, the lights and water resources are at lower levels than when he was in power and a civil war is near, I think it is debateable as to whether or not it was beneficial that he was pulled from power.

Anyway, it may not make a difference to THEM if there was or wasn't a trial, but what about the government. If there wasn't a trial and they were like "alright, let's just kill the guy." How does that make them any different than Saddam?
