Good review Al, I added my score. I liked this album alot, but not quite as much as the self-titled, which I think is a severely underrated album. However, besides U,U,D,D.... (isn't that the code for unlimited lives in Contra?) and Pink Cellphone with it's horrendous title and extremely curious lyrical content, this album is still great.

This band and reviews is good. White Pony was a great album so I best check this out sometime.

Self-titled album is good but I think this album is better, but it doesn't top White Pony. I agree about Pink Cellphone being a very skippable track. U,U,D,D.... I don't mind too much.

BTW, the song title is U, U, D, D, L, R, L, R, A, B, Select, Start

But the Contra code is U, U, D, D, L, R, L, R, B, A, Start

So yeah, it's a reference to the code but they didn't get it right. :P

Haha! So close!

Next thing will be some band naming a song Justin Bailey or whatever the code was for Metroid.

This is definitely not as good as White Pony, or Around the Fur for that matter, but it's about on par with the self-titled. Beware is one of the best songs they've written in years.

I heard Back to School in the pub last night and felt like vomitting all over myself.

Yes I know its not representative of their sound and yes I know I'm being a dick, but ha! Ha, I say!

It's not as bad as Rad the wiener hound ( ) makes it out to be, but it's nowhere near as good as its father song, Pink Maggit, from White Pony.

I hate it, it almost ruined the album for me.

If you mean you hate Back to School, I can understand. It's not even on the original version of the CD. But if you're saying you hate Pink Maggit, yo I can't get with that G. :D

I liked this band when I was fifteen and just getting into the thing called 'music'. Now I find them overly whiny, pointless and pretentious. I tried their their S/T album a couple of years ago, back when I had already moved on to less commercial bands, and it couldn't inspire me. So I guess... you're all fifteen?

Yes, but I moonlight as a 24 year old. Maybe one day I'll graduate to adult music.

I still listen to music I liked when I was 13. Slayer, Devin Townsend, Metallica, Megadeth... then I did this whole rap thing... Anyway, the point is you're never to old to enjoy music you liked as a kid.

I'm similar in some respects, but then again I only got into metal at about 16. I used to mainly listen to punk (and it's pop deriratives)before that. I still listen to that stuff on occasion though. I think assgning a recommended age to music is mildly ludicrous, but I can see how some bands get the reputation of being liked by a certain age group Due to the number of 15 yr old hoodie wearers per square mile. However most of the Deftones fans I've met (in real life) have been mature (in boh music taste and age)

But then again I don't tend to hang around shopping centres.

Isn't it quite possible that without Korn's rub on the FV Tour, this band probably wouldn't have existed?

I listen to Linkin Park's first album every now and then (well, I've done it once in 5 years...) because it reminds me of playing Final Fantasy 9 as a 12 or 13 year old.
