Oh my god! I'm completely stunned by this, my album of the year! What's up with these french, first I get amazed by Manigance and now Heavenly!

I thought that Sign of the Winner was amazing power metal, although in time I got somewhat annoyed with it. I'm still not really sure why I felt that way. Dust to Dust was also superb, loved the different tempo changes and melodies. Now Virus feels like they would have made Dust to Dust "happy" and added a bit more of everything. It also seems to me that Ben sings somewhat lower when compared to Sign of the Winner leaving out most of the annoying ultra-high notes ( maybe those were the reason I found Sign of the Winner annoying in the end... ). The times when he really sings high seem to fit better, which makes it possible to listen to the album more often.

Great album from a great band, this is gonna stay in my player for a long time! 97/100

I still play this at least once a week. It is also great to listen to when I go jogging.

He sings on "Wasted Time" the part that goes "My entire life
flashing before my eyes....." etc.

It is harder to pick then normal but he's there. Awesome cd classic power metal the way I like it. This is how power metal should sound bring it on just hope they don't wait so long for their next release.

I didn't hear him either at first, he actually fits really good into the music.
Btw, I noticed something weird when reading through the booklet. In the credits in the end it says:

" All songs written by Ben Sotto except "The Joker" by Charlie Corbiaux. "

Wasn't "The Joker" a bonus song on the japanese version or something? Just wondering cause I have the european version.

Really? He has such a unique voice though. I picked him out right away. I'm upset with our Sonata fanboy.

I'm listening to the Virus CD at the moment... and yes, it's really that good! It's such a good feeling when you realize a group has surpassed your expectations! :) :dio:

Propbably used to Tony having the dominant voice in the recording where as it's Ben in this case would have liked to hear Tony used more in the song. Saw "The Joker" mentioned in booklet not on my copy only extras are video and wallpapers.
Interesting how they get compared to Stratovarius as I think Heavenly are a lot better band and if anything they are more like Gamma Ray.

Yeah, the only similarities that I find between Strato and and this album are some keyboard passages and "The Power & Fury". The beginning of "Bravery in the Field" really feels like Sonata, if I didn't know and someobody would ask me of it, I would definitely say it's SA. I also agree with the Gamma Ray comparision, but for me this is "bigger" and more majestic than Gamma Ray, that's only me though.

Yeah, Tony's lost in the chorus, I couldn't pick him out, despite his distinct voice and loltastic accent.

Well, it seems that the more I listen to this album, the more I disagree with myself saying that there is less annoying high-pitched singing on the album. Now it seems that there is as much of it as before, I just happen to like it this time. I don't know what Ben changed, but I really do enjoy his singing a lot more than before. So that forces me to raise the score a bit to 98/100 :).

I still can't believe you can't pick out his voice after it has been pointed out to you.

That's him?? It sounds way to high pitched... but now that you tell me, I do recognize him...
