For it (obviously). A fetus is practically a parasite until the sixth month, anyway.
To NESS: What if you never want kids, can't take the pill because of an unrelated medical issue (look up factor 5 liden if you're curious) and come up against the American medical establishment's stubborn insistence that all women must have children to be complete when you try to get a tubal ligation, use other birth control methods, but the statistics bite you in the ass anyway?
It's life you'd be getting rid of and I don't agree with that. I know I may sound like a conservative asshole, but it's what I believe.
Do you eat meat? Wear leather? Eschew antibiotics? That's life as well, and a living cow is far more developed than a three-week-old fetus (of any species). For that matter, a single bacillum is technically more devloped, since it can live on its own.
Exactly. Potential for a "fulfilling human life" is irrelevant as well. Potential does not begin at conception: there is potential when you have sex, when you think about having sex, and even before, since most likely, you will have sex. Ending "potential" is not ending an entire human life since the life never came into being. You cannot end what never existed. I could even take it a step further with determinism and argue that the potential was never there to begin with, but determinism is much more debatable.
All that is being ended with abortion is an early-stage fetus that harbors none of the characteristics that we value as being uniquely human.
