Exactly. Potential for a "fulfilling human life" is irrelevant as well. Potential does not begin at conception: there is potential when you have sex, when you think about having sex, and even before, since most likely, you will have sex. Ending "potential" is not ending an entire human life since the life never came into being. You cannot end what never existed. I could even take it a step further with determinism and argue that the potential was never there to begin with, but determinism is much more debatable.

All that is being ended with abortion is an early-stage fetus that harbors none of the characteristics that we value as being uniquely human.

in principle i believe that society has no use for abortion outside of the whole rape/fetus malformation or other circumstances above the " whoops, got knocked up" I think there are better ways to do things and that it should only be available if you legitmately use birth control and it fails. (outside rape).

hmm, i don't know. Im a moderate on the issue, a where most people are. However, i believe the women has the right to do it in a reasonable amount of time of the conception.

I'm for it because nobody has an emotional investment in the fetus besides the parents (who are deciding its something they dont want) and it is not sentient. So nobody is losing.

yes, people should be responsible and use contraceptives, but if they fail (or if they for some reason they simply don't use them) then i think abortion should be an option. i think everyone realizes what they're doing with an abortion, and know that it's an extreme measure.

I'm totally against abortion. Just like NESS said, if you cant afford to raise a kid, dont fuckin fuck. Or at least wear a condom. Plus, having an abortion can reduce the chances of the girl having a kid years later. Happy regretting.

It's one of conservatism's more hypocritical elements that dictates that parents that have children when they are unable to support them are scum, but at the same time wants to withdraw the ability to prevent those kids being born.

It's like a cunning trap that is laid for the nation's youth. "Hahaha, those children, being completely normal, will be unable to resist the temptations to have sex when they are young. I was going to try and argue my point, but I know that around here it is useless. It's what I believe, that's all.

Hurrah! A debate where's there no right or wrong answer! I personally agree with Zad, that it's not up to males, but to females as it is their body at the end of the day.

However I also think that if we can cheat nature in saving life by medical science, then you should be able to take it too. The world is over populated as it is, so we need sacrifices and I'd like to see the ratio of life saving operations to abortions because people should be dying more naturally.

I'm not religious as 'God' is a made up thing to fear monger people into line, so your soul ain't going to 'hell'/'limbo' if you 'murder' anyone, therefore euthanasia should be allowed as well.

Ya, but there is no point to arguing this. I try to bring up abortion at fancy dinners and people start yelling and fetuses (fetii?) start popping out everywhere you look. Its not good.
