Valentine's Day is a florist's invention (my chemistry teacher said so, so it must be true). ACtually, feb 14 is a norse holiday called Valisblot, or a Blot honoring Vali, Odin's son. So Hail To Vali! (and make a mead offering to the gods, keeps em happy)

Chinese have their own Valentines day but it is the first day of Lunar New Year Holidays.

The boy got me Candy, he made me paper cherry blossoms (because they're my favourite), he made me a mixed CD with lovey songs, and he's taking me out to dinner on the weekend. :)

I made him a CD (it was our deal), Candy, I made a picture frame for his favourite picture of him and I, and I made him a Manowar tshirt. ha.

For those of you on the edge of your seats:

Yes, my cake totally rocked the fuck out.

Thanks to Zad who gave me invaluable advice on the recipe!

Yeah for a classic Valentine's day all you need is a little bourbon in the cake

Actually, all Zad really told me to do was stick to the recipe... Doesn't sound like much, but consider that when I do cooking I tend to go a bit crazy and start making it up as I go along, and the effects can be disastrous. This way I ended up with something that actually tasted edible :)

Rice is a lot easier to cook than a steak. And how do you screw up rice? Boil the water and then let the water do the rest, just don't let it sit too long. I think somebody needs to teach you how to cook. :)

The rice looked like sludge, but when it was consumed, it was dry on the inside
