Another "recommend me some Jazz"-thread

Yes yes, I know, there's been a few of these before, but I'm more specific in my search. I'm not asking for general jazz, but more of the dynamic kind, so to speak.
I saw the end of a live show on TV a while ago and it was amazing. They had great melodies, high tempo and all of a sudden the drummer would go all out on his drums and play a f*ucked up solo or something, then the other guys would follow and solo on their own instruments and it was just balls out slaughter fest, but jazzy. Incredible. That's how I want my jazz, experimental, spontaneous and crazy, with lots of energy. Just can't remember what the names of the guys who played was...
Not some soft Miles Davis or Coltrane stuff, I want more explosive jazz. Does not have to be the jazz equivalence to grindcore by any means, but I think you understand what I'm trying to say.

Any suggestions, aye?

You should try Coltrane's later stuff- go for Ascension or Sun Ship or something from the mid 60s of his, then he will make you cry for calling him soft.

Also with Davis try his fusion era, if you haven't already. Go for Bitches Brew first.

I like your description but I'm not quite sure what you're looking for from it

Do you want some scary atonal free jazz freakouts, or more melodic/catchier stuff that is also quite violent? The former is much, much easier to find than the latter, btw!

If you want explosive jazz, go for "Peter Brötzmann Octet - Machine Gun".

It's a 64 record of improvised mania that is so fucking loud is not even funny (you will not like it). It has three saxophonists, two bassists, two drummers and a pianist and all are going fucking berzerk on their instruments. This puts all your grind albums to shame in terms of loudness. Musicians are extremely skilled as well by the way (Brötzmann, Breuker, Mengelberg, Bennink play on this record, from the top of my head).

Ok you got me, I have not heard all of their records, there's just so many of them! Thanks for pointing out specific albums.
I'm not even sure what atonal free jazz freakouts means exactly, but I think it's somewhat in the right direction. But melodic and violent sounds pretty neat too, with good variation it could become great I think.

It was funny last night my friends and I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure out if her song "XYZ" was a cover of the rush song, we decided it was.

It sounds fairly structured to me, but there is probably some improv going on.

Yeah it's the same. Not the wall of sound I would expect, but nice nevertheless.

No, it's not a wall of sound indeed, I could recommend some extremely loud classical drone minimalism / noise music from the same time, but you gotta agree with me that Machine Gun is extremely dissonant and chaotic
