Either Tool - Intermission (it made me lulz, so i liked it) or Strapping Young Lad - S.Y.L. (if you're talking about extreme metal, it also made me lulz)

Not a surprise that that track converted somebody. Such an ornate and medieval sound to the newbie listener. Still a cool track. :dio:

Hmm. Well, I was always influenced by Maiden, Priest and Black Sabbath. But never really got into it, as much as I am now.
But it was actually my brother's ex girlfriend who got me into metal. It was a nightwish song I believe.

Not really a song, but when my cousin gave me Virgin Steele's Invictus, I was sold.

Probably CoF's cover of that Twisted Sister Song. The song that got me out was the first movement of GY!BE's Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven.

When i saw you had posted in this thread, i immediately thought to ask what song go you out of metal. I see you answered my question before i even had to ask :P

My song that converted me to extreme metal was Darkthrone - Striving For A Piece Of Lucifer. ( I got that album for $10 - cheap as chips)

Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

It was a long and convoluted path.

aww i remember those days.

when i was real young, every one i lived with for any period of time was into Ozzy and Priest, so I always kinda was into it, the way some little kids are into Songs from barney. i was a metal toddler :dio:

getting actually into it took the course of Smooth criminal, then moved into some system of a down and then, one night when i was out skateboarding with my friends some one put a mix disc in with People=shit by Slipknot and thats what really did it.

Well I started off listening to radio bands at first, and my first casette was Offspring's 'Americana'. I still love it. Then my mum bought me Bon Jovi's 'Crush' album. Slowly I digged into Nirvana and a little bit of Metallica (90's). But I was not really into metal shit back then.

The in '99 an ad on TV blew my balls off, it was Deep Purple's greatest hit. I started listening to 70's rock. Then in 2000, when Maiden released 'Brave New World' and 'The Wicker Man was played quite a few times on MTV, I fell in love. I started buying Maiden's old albums, and boy, it was like getting hit head on by a trailer......been a Maiden fanboy since.

But I guess THE song that got me into metal was definitely Maiden's 'The Wicker Man'.

The songs that got me back into Metal around 97 or so were definetely:

Not really songs but a comp tape a friend gave me called suck a hard one which had Entombed, Carcass, Godflesh, Cathedral and some others on it.

Also the Blackenend 1 and 2 and Cruelty brought thee Orchids by COF

Beauty in Darkness 2 and 3

Drowned Maid by Amorphis

and I was like all back in it all the sudden.

Katatonia My sweet nurse was the song that got me into Metal and Sonata Arctica's Last Drop Falls is the song that made me purchase my first metal album.

Bon Jovi's Bad Medicine. That song made me realize how much I liked guitar driven music/songs. I did enjoy Europe's Rock The Night, but Bad Medicine made me delve more into rock music until I discovered metal.

I would say The Glass Prison by Dream Theater. I had never heard anything that in depth before. The longest song I had heard prior to it was Stairway to Heaven.
