Who? :omfg:

Liam Neeson. He has done so many great movies, and his performance is always perfect IMO. Who is your favorite actor?

Btw, don't be gay and start a new thread for your favorite actress. Just include them in this thread.

I actually have to favorite actors, Edward Norton and John Cusack and coincidently, these to actors are in my two favorite movies High Fidelity and American History X. Both actors always have solid performances although their movies aren't always great, I guess it happens when actors take risks.

Generally stuff with Kevin Spacey (minus the new Superman), Edward Norton (minus The Illusionist and maybe a few others), and a few others is great.

Anthony Hopkins also never ceases to amaze me with his ability to make practically any role he does awesome... if I had to choose one it would be him probably.

I like Tom Hanks and Anthony Hopkins...I think both of them have made a lot of great movies and are excellent actors.

I forgot Johnny Depp. Although his roles in the last few years have been either too weird (Libertine, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) or too cash-grab (Pirates yarrr)

Hmmm, I really don't know who. Possibly Tom Hanks or Hugh Laurie or someone. And a personal favourite of mine is Alyson Hannigan. Although you wouldn't call her the greatest actor or anything, I think she has a great quirky charm about her, especially in her role in American Pie.

Robert DeNiro. Case closed.

Though I also like Ed Norton, Freddie Rodriguez, Christian Bale, and, even though it will make me sound like a chick, Brad Pitt.

I like a lot of those listed. DeNiro and Jack Nichlson are also two of my favorites.

And Adam, Brad Pitt has made some really kick ass movies. Him and Anthony Hopkins in "Legends of the Fall" were both brilliant.

Bruce Campbell is my favourite actor.

I tend not to like films with really famous actors in because most of them to me nowadays are more celebrities than someone capable of playing a character in a genuine way. The only A list star that springs to mind as someone whose work I really like is Jack Nicholson. In terms of present day noobs I also like Cillian Murphy a lot, I think he's been pretty good in everything I've seen him in.

Jack Nicholson is probably the best actor in the history of humanity, case closed. My personal favourite would have to be Ed Norton though, he's in almost all of my favourite films.
Honourable mentions: Christian Bale, Robert Deniro, Leo Di Caprio (the guy gets too much stick and not enough credit, he's an amazing actor) and Johnny Depp.

DiCaprio has developed into a fine actor. Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy are also two of my favourite n00bs. I was amazed that when I saw Sunshine recently that Chris Evans (no, not that one) can actually play more than the loveable smartass. His performance was brilliant.

Based solely on his performance as Marc Antony (though he also does a damn good job in A Knight's Tale, one of the few good aspects of that movie), I vote for James Purefoy.

Jeremy Piven is a fantastic comedic actor (check him out in Old School and more importantly, Entourage, for which he's won two emmies for each season so far). Will Arnett also deserves mention.

Ian McKellen too is amazing- my favourite performance of his would have to be in his fascist English version of Richard III, though of course he's amazing in everything, from Lord of the Rings and X Men to his recent work in King Lear.

Honourable mention goes to Alan Cummings. I saw him in Cabaret as the MC, and was incredibly impressed- I've seen that play (and the movie) multiple times, and his performance was without a doubt the best. His career has so much shit in it though that its hard to see.

First, the old boys:

Robert DeNiro - probably the best ever.
Gene Hackman - extremely powerful and versatile, a real pleasure to watch even when the movie's bad; I think he's always been a bit underrated, it's a shame.
Anthony Hopkins - always impecable, his performance in Remains Of The Day overshades almost pretty much everything.
Jack Nicholson - tremendous personality on screen.
Michael Caine - subtle and inteligent, he elevates every movie he graces.
Tom Hanks - anybody who can carry a whole movie alone, just by talking to a volleyball, needs to be respected.

Out of the younger generations: Edward Norton and Joaquin Phoenix. They will both soon grab an Oscar, I bet anything on this.

I have some gay love for Christian Bale. Robert DeNiro is a boring choice but when he was on form he was THE man. I'd also have to mention James Gandolfini because his performance as Tony Soprano is probably the most layered and gripping I've ever seen.

I love Bruce Campbell! All of the Evil Dead series are classic, though I like Army of Darkness best, plus I finally just saw Bubba Ho-Tep for the first time, and he was great in that too.

Woo, hard question. No-one's mentioned Al Pacino, who is most consistantly my fave, although also love Michael Caine, Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Woody Allen, Anthony 'Better Than Stallone' Hopkins, Christopher Lee and Ian McKellen.

Meryl Streep and Diane Keaton come to mind for actresses, as does Kate Winslet.

Didn't Joaquim get the oscar for Johnny Cash?

And for the n00bs, I like Hugh Jackman, who's proving himself to be pretty good, Christian Bale, o'course, and Ellen Paige from Hard Candy, amazing actress.
