Major event?

Anyway, I'm just getting into this band through the album Hyperion. Very good songwriting, but I'm having trouble getting past/liking the vocals.

In that this album is superfucktacularly amazing and that this band deserves the respect, then yes.

I don't understand the problems people have with the vocals. They're completely unique- emotional without being whiny, incredibly powerful and able to deliver mood.

As for this album- incredible. Definitely better than part I (and part I was amazing)- just superb songwriting all around, and like a good concept album, its completely moody and reflects the story's themes quite nicely, even if the lyrics aren't particularly well written. Best track for me is When the Soulreapers Cry (just listen to that chorus- how can anyone not love that voice?)- the part beginning at 2:03 and at the end makes me shiver every time. Beauty Will Fade is very different from anything they've done before and manages to pull off that creepy aura of happiness quite well- plus that verse riff is killer and very fun to play on guitar as well. And all the songs are amazing, which compares well with part I which has the best overall song but was much more inconsistent. All in all, 94/100- their second best after Hyperion and probably the album of the year for me. Great review, too.

Hmmm... I don't see how this is a major event either. Yes, they are awesome, but I'd say that tag belongs to the Gamma Rays, Maiden's, Helloweens...

Anyway, as for this album, fucking awesome. I'm still new to this band, but I am quickly becoming a fan.

What the hell, is that the MOTOROLA logo on the cover?

No its their logo, which I designed and while I can see the resemblance on the small image review, when you look at the logo it doesn't look like Motorola's. Its two reaper blades crossing, and then the repeating shadow in the back form a sort of mask.

You can see the logo on its own here :

I agree Manticora isn't known enough to deserve a major event logo, but the thing is they have lots of talent and hopefully they'll be major(ly known that is) on day !

Just my 2 cents.
Chris

Getting into this album now - pretty great! More instantly likable than pt 1. For now, it's a step behind '8 Deadly Sins', 'Darkness with tales to tell' and 'Roots of Eternity', but in no way a disappointment. Major event indeed.
