Coupla days ago, my mum told me something that shocked me. This cousin of mine, had his wedding called off. I was quite surprised by this, knowing the fact that he has been going out with his fiancee for a good couple of years.

Well the problem is, his fiancee had been on this weird diet pills. Illegal diet pills could be obtained easily here, in Malaysia, especially in Chinese medicine halls. The reason they're illegal is because they cause a lot of damage to the consumer's body. And so it did.

It seems the poor girl's internal organs are badly damaged and she is quite sickly. It was HER parents who requested for the wedding to be called off. Because they were afraid if anything were to happen after marriage (eg death), they wouldn't to be blamed for anything. Indians get nasty when they start accusing people of things, be it petty or important. Trust me.

So now I hear that my cousin's got a little depressed and he's gone off to India to get things off his mind. He's not returned ever since. He's feeling really kinda shitty. I feel sorry cos he was deeply in love with the girl and things turned out like this.....Sigh.

Sorry to hear it. Always seemed healthier to use crack than diet pills to me, hope he's alright.

Diet pills fucking suck. I'm surprised people still buy that shit. Sorry about that mate.

My cousin is in jail, for something he didn't do so I kind of feel your pain.

I once knew a fat girl who took diet pills and got skinny then her face went red and then she vomited for a week and then she went fat again.

I'm not sure how severe the girl's condition is, but according to my mum and my aunt (cousin's mum), her internal organs are fucked. And no one knows exactly how long she can last....sorry I had to say that....but that is the main point.

Considering most diet pills are rather extreme variations of Methamphetamine, I'm surprised her heart didn't stop. And Zad's right, most diet pills are more dangerous than Crack.

Damn, I'm sorry for your cousin. Behind bars even when he's innocent. How do people over there look at former convicts (sorry I couldnt find any other word to use)? Here in Malaysia, despite the government's call to give these people a second chance, it falls on deaf ears. Former convicts are shunned by society. The only people they can turn to is their family. On the other hand, with our Asian culture of being respectable and honourable, most of them are outcasted and ostracised by their own family members. I feel pity for the ex-convicts, those who have genuinely turned over a new leaf, so what more bout those wrongly accused? It's like their whole life is ruined.

It isn't such a big deal here but it does stick with you all your life no matter what. He is a ship captain and some of the crew let some refugees in, got caught in the mediterranean. He's responsible for the ship so he gets in jail too. He probably will get away with little time since he is innocent, but it will always be in his record.

Oh and my uncle who recently had cancer surgery (I think I mentioned him somewhere around here) keeps wondering why my cousin hasn't called him in ages. They obviously haven't told him his son is in jail in a time like that. Can you imagine how bad he must feel?

Fucking hell. I sometimes feel I understand how normal people turn into murderers.

I see commercials for those stupid diet pills all the time. It always seems to me like a total sham. Anything that can allegedly take off that much weight without the consumer having to do any effort has to be pretty horrible for one's body.

Yeah... it's especially fucked if you consider that if he was in a state where the consent age is 18 I don't think he could have been charged for anything

That's really sad about your uncle. He's not in a situation to hear any bad news at all.

As for the guy who got jailed for concensual teen sex, damn he's fucked!!! State rules rulez!! :P But hell, his family is gonna be taunted by humilation after this. His picture is in the papers!!

Are the press over there allowed to publish the sex offender's names openly or are there certain regulations against it? What about European countries?

In Malaysia, when it comes to sex offences, the name of the accused can be published in the papers, and also a picture. But if the offender is a relative to the victim (in cases of incest), the offender's name and picture are not to be released at all. It is to protect the victim from any sort of social stigma. If it's some brutal rape that led to murder, provided the victim isn't related to the offender, goddamn he has his passport picture blown all over the front pages.
