I like Kerry King during his interviews. But I think a lot of his lyrics for Slayer have become really pathetic lately.

"Hey, look at me! I'm 44 years old and still writing songs about Satan and how bad Christianity is! Haw haw haw haw haw!"

Yeah, you've really got to dissaciociate Varg and co.'s actions from their music. Metal xxx, your'e from Bergen, I take it you were there when all that happened (there as hearing about it on the news, of course)

oh I was born yes, but a little to young to understand what was going on back then. but it is of course a known case here in Bergen, everybody knows of it. It is still discussed in the media sometimes, and Varg has among other things tried to escape from prison a few times.

Not necassarily, Burzum really is an audio trip through one man's tortured mind after all.

Hah, as if Kerry could still to write something nearly as relevant as A Blaze in the Northern Sky, Burzum or De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas.

Hail Slayer 1982-1986.

EDIT: I was actually born in '86. This is because of the fact that the amount of genius in the world stays constant.

Yes, but you can't say "Black metal sucks because Varg is a douche"

You have to understand the mindset to appreciate the music, else it's too big a chasm to cross. So you have to really see why Anaal Nathrakh could hate humanity, Propagandhi's more-left-wing-than-me ranting or Rush's conservative musings. And so on.

I think it would be best if the musicians behind music could remain essentially anonymous so you can just think of the music and not really why or by what kind of person it was made.

I don't think music would be nearly as interesting then.

His interviews are horrible. All he does is talk about how much Metallica sucks and Slayer rules, and how Slipknot is the HEAVIEST BAND EVER.

True. But I think it would make bands like Nirvana, who's music is pretty much inseperably linked to the person/people who made it much easier to enjoy.

I think the ultimate example of Kerry King's hypocrisy is his whole dispute with Rob Flynn back about six years ago.

King (to Flynn) ~ "I thought you were REAL metal! But your last two albums have been killing metal with their rap-metal garbage! Nu-Metal sellout!"

Almost humorously, all it took for King to shut-up was for Rob to point out his involvement with a Sum-41 video. Other examples include the nu-metal influence on Diabolus In Musica and God Hates Us All (released just a couple months before Supercharger, no less!) and King's shameless fandom for Slipknot. I also heard somewhere (don't know if this is true, though), that in early-2001, Kerry King said in an interview that he is a "big fan of bands like Disturbed and Linkin Park, and he wants to implement whatever made them popular into Slayer's music."

Not only that, but he always seems to be angry/pissed off with somebody or something. Is there anything or anybody this guy actually LIKES?

It's funny that when you hear his voice, he's actually rather softly spoken. You'd expect him to talk in a voice that sounds like a wrestler passing a cricket ball through his colon.

Well I've always enjoyed Kerry King's interviews. Not that it's the smartest thing to watch, but to laugh at his comments. For some reason he seems to be a stuck up guy in public, ranting bout which band's are shit and glorifying crap bands. But he seems to be a nice guy in person, so said my friend who had beers with him in Singapore.

Anyway, I think the only smart guy in Slayer is Tom. Dave doesn't seem to talk much, so I'm not sure bout him. Jeff.......let's not talk about him and his Heinekens.

It's kind of weird, actually. Kerry King seems like a really nice, down-to-Earth guy when you first see him being interviewed. But once you actually get to know him, you discover he's a real doofus.
