Here's my effort

didn't know how much exactly i was allowed to fiddle with the contrast etc.. so here's the original

I prefer the original, actually. The purple is too subdued by exaggerating the contrast.

hmm... yeah, perhaps you're right.. when i looked at the first again after posting it i thought it looked a bit weird some places, colorwise - and it is perhaps a bit too dark, on the other hand it looks like fire in the top, or burnt paper.. or something something... i wish i could make the original more colorful, though, but i got no proper photo editing program.

Is this a competition between the older and newer Astaroth pictures? Cuz that's rather pointless and my vote goes to Astaroth.

Heck, I can't find my memory stick for my camera. So I'll enter a rather older photo from my Mill Point archaeology expedition. That big iron thing is a 19th Century boiler. It is one of three still standing. One of the other ones exploded and killed three people, forcing the closure of the mill.

I like Astaroth's mass of colour spectrum and interesting texture, but I'm going to have to vote for Tlaloc's utter lack of it, actually. I find Tlaloc's rendition of 'iron hidden in the landscape' very much adherent to the theme and format, yet in a way I had hardly contemplated.

Tlaloc.

Astaroth gets my vote, though Tlaloc's is very good and interesting, it's just that Kim has shot an instant black metal album cover there which I could use hehehe.

I think I'll give my vote to Tlaloc for the exact same reasons. A bit reluctantly though since Astaroth's photo is superior artistically. If Tlaloc's photo was taken from a more interesting angle and maybe with better framing I would not have any seconds thoughts though. It's that wooden fence that especially puts me off and the complete centeredness (?) of the subject. An interesting entry nevertheless!

+1 Tlaloc

Yeah, that wooden barrier makes it a bit touristy. I had this great idea of heading up to the city cemetary for this comp, but bah! I cannae find my memory stick.

I would've said Tlaloc's was more Blek Metlly - trees? Astaroth's looks like the cover of a NIN ep, and so my vote doesn't go to him.
