I know that I may be exaggerating the physical damage, etc. that it does. Though, like everything else, it probably depends largely on the individual person and his/her biological make-up. Some people just naturally handle cigarettes, marijuana, even fatty foods better than others.
Still, I personally find it a stupid thing to get into (along with heavy alcohol consumption, cigarettes, or any form of "biological escapism"). Not just because of health concerns, but also because of the whole concept of "getting high" - which I just naturally find moronic. Especially after seeing people getting high at parties, etc. Just as some people find video games stupid to get into. And other people find heavy metal a stupid genre. I'm okay with you disagreeing with me. But I do have a firm opinion of the matter.
Eh, everything's a form of escapism when you get down to it. Video games are a form of withdrawing from reality, especially these days. You are leaving the real world for a virtual one, one where whatever problems a person is experiencing don't exist. They can also be extremely addiciting, some people have given up their entire personal lives to sit around and play World of Warcraft 24/7. Anything can become a life damaging addiction, hell I'm sure every person on this site has spent ungodly amounts of money to feed their music addictions, myself included. It's all about moderation, no matter what the subject matter is.
