Someone fix my damn Emolicious account! I just got a PM! Hahaha.

Anyway, I was in Boston like two weeks ago and saw this album on "sale" for $23.99 on import. Pffft. I decided to go home and finally check this band out. (I dig the single, by the way.) So I downloaded everything.

I'm not sure what you people are smoking, but this new album, The Silent Whatever and Mother Earth are pretty much no different in style. I think this is a case of band popularity among turdly trendsters skewing opinion (when it comes to those suggesting they've changed, not those that simply think they suck). I just can't see how those three albums are any different. Obviously the new single is different because of Keith Caputo, but take him away—and take the the rest of the album—and you've got something that's not any different at all.

Enter, of course, is like early After Forever, so I can see the complaint there. But not with what came after.

Actually Ken is right, Mother Earth is even more mellow then the Silent Force and less metal.......actually I don't care of it that much but I dig Silent Force quite a bit.

People are just pissed others found out about them. But new Lacuna Coil still sucks for reasons totally unrelated to this......

I don't buy that. The guitars are even more straightforward (and, of course, tuned to that radio-perfect 'heavy' Linkin Park tone) on The Silent Force and the symphonic arrangements are different - usually just creating a sort of 'mesh' around the songs to blur the absence of actual music going on. The lyrics also went from nature-loving nonsense (cool nonsense, no?) to "oh wah my heart is empty of everything but darkness omg" tripe. I'm not saying Mother Earth is a shining example of how to do goth metal or anything - its like both albums are close to the border of good taste, with Mother Earth staying just inside and The Silent Force being the step across.

Just my $0.02. The whole issue doesn't bother me much, its not like I wanted to cry when Within Temptation "SOALD OWT!" I just know that I like some of the stuff from one album and not the other. Oh, and their image change was pretty cynical.

Because SA is so metal and genre bending.........

SA is a lot deeper than you give it credit for. And yes, it is metal. Definitely more metal than WT.

Dude when your favorite band in the world is SA you just have to shut up and not mess with people on thier taste... I have Reckoning Night and Winterheart...I know what they sound like......

I haven't heard this new WT, if they did bullshit like LC did on their last album with the LP guitars then I might have to agree with you.

Ok, I will check it out. You do agree though if you have man love for Sonata Arctica to the point you act like 14 year old girl during the Beatles invasion of the US you can't comment on others views on music though right?

Many of these clowns shouldn't be commenting on music simply because it'd be like them commenting on heterosexual fucking—they don't know what they're talking about.

Ok, Enter was really good, and I liked Mother Earth and The Silent Force, but I thought the new single sucked really hard. Should I bother checking this out?

this album is a continuation of The Silent Force, it's even more orchestrated and symphonic with amazing vocals. The single is pretty much the worst track. this album is totally worth checking out... that is if you're not afraid to listen to something a little more mainstream than the usual metal band.

I bought THOE a few weeks ago. I've listened to it quite a bit since then. I don't think that anyone is walking into this CD not knowing what WT is about unless you're just the average top 40, radio listening, MTV drone. WT has evolved and for what they have become...I like the music they're creating. I wouldn't say that they've sold out. I'm not comfortable with the notion that if you become popular then you're no longer credible as a band. I really enjoyed The Silent Force and I like THOE. If WT has to carry the stigma that they "sold out"in some way to create their last two CD's, then I'm glad that they did.

Yeah, because by that way of thinking, Iron Maiden sold out AGES ago.

I'm kind of confused by your comment? In what way did IM sell out?

He just means that, by the way of thinking you described, any band that becomes popular has sold out, and since IM are very popular, they sold out a long time ago.

I think I need to work on my writing skills then because that's not what I meant at all. In fact I wrote above " I wouldn't say that WT has sold out." I've read and heard many other people accuse WT of selling out. My point being that if that's the indictment that WT has to live with because they're becoming popular, then so be it. IMO, who cares if people accuse them of being a sell out if they're creating good music?

Yeah, basically what Caldogg said. And, yes, I agree with you, if the music is still good, I don't care how popular they get or if they're branded as sell outs. But then WT were already accused of selling ut with TSF cause it was a bit more accessible than Mother Earth.
