Eric Clapton - Tears in Heavem

Chokes me up every time.

Alwats reminds me of the AC song "Your kid comitted suicide because you suck" so it kind of loses it's effect.

"I don't have the heart" by james ingram

Tells the story of a woman who desperately loves a man, but for some unknown reason, although it is not his own desire, he can't reciprocate that love.

Most of it is how he sings it. If it were done by some piece of shit womanizing rapper it would have a ridiculous and egotistical tone. But this is a man who sounds like he is dying on the inside talking about the situation.

Think Darth Vader circa ESB trying to find the Anakin that was still inside him but realizing all the hate and pain over the years has left him a hollow shell, you know, that despite his love for his children there is no choice left. He must obey his master and stay loyal to something that has been the source of all the hatred and caused him every wince of pain his entire sad life.

That is the angle the guy is coming from and what makes it the saddest song i've ever heard

Empyrium's "Where at night the wood grouse plays" is some pretty disheartening stuff, as well as The 3rd and the mortal's material all of which reminds me of rain

Hurt by Nine Inch Nails gets me every time. Johnny Cash's version too.

My new choice is Devin Townsend - Things Beyond Things because it pretends to be happy but really it is soul crushing.

Dream Theater - Space-Dye Vest : The only song by DT I've listened to more than a couple times. :P

VNV Nation - Forsaken : Apparently they don't play it live anymore because their vocalist broke down crying too many times.

Holy fuck that is an amazing song. I've always been annoyed by the scream at the end though.

I've gotta go with Motorhead-1916.

Unlike any other 'head' song I've heard.

That doesn't make me sad. That just makes me pissed off that the whole attitude of that song is how US politicians feel about people in general. The establishment thinks people are pieces of useless shit that exist only to prop up the economy.

16 years old when I went to war,
To fight for a land fit for heroes,
God on my side, and a gun in my hand,
Counting my days down to zero,
And I marched and I fought and I bled
And I died & I never did get any older,
But I knew at the time, That a year in the line,
Is a long enough life for a soldier,
We all volunteered,
And we wrote down our names,
And we added two years to our ages,
Eager for life and ahead of the game,
Ready for history's pages,
And we fought and we brawled
And we whored 'til we stood,
Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder,
A thirst for the Hun,
We were food for the gun,and that's
What you are when you're soldiers

Used to be stuff like Darkest Hour by Megadeth, A Question of Heaven by Iced Earth and Suicide Note Pt I by Pantera.

Nowadays they're just good songs and I don't really find any song sad as life's pretty awesome right now and has been for the last few years.

It's hard to relate to sad things when you're feeling really good.

gtfo.

This shit is sad:
Currently over 6 billion people inhabit the planet earth
and with every hour, more than 10,000 people will be born
A gift that should be so precious is instead a perverted game of deception & control
Manipulative parents hellbent on success they could not achieve
Greedy corporations to bring them to their knees
A system based on murder to teach them how to kill
A false prophet to suppress their thoughts to teach them to deny free will
Text books filled with lies to distort their perceptions of reality
Television to rot their brains and fill them with banality
Consumer society to teach that money is success
Date rape fucking culture to teach them the roles of sex
Daddy beats on mommy, thats the way it is
when he gets tired of that, he beats his fucking kids
The gift of life, a precious act indeed, when a child is but a barcoded number in a system based on greed
They need bodies to fill the prison cells
They need bodies to fill the factories
They need bodies to fight in their fucking wars
They need bodies to satisfy their greed
In their eyes a child represents a profit, not a life
A potential customer, a consumer to be used and thrown aside
We live in a world where people would rather close their eyes than ever admit that we're anything but civilized
A cycle of oppression based on rules that they define
Hatred, greed, destruction: will we ever see it die?
Is it really our nature to accept being blindly led?
And if that is our future, then the human race is dead.
There is no basis of life in our current state of living.

How are we supposed to see through the window of truth if you wipe greasy propaganda all over it, Trapt? HOW?
