I dig this band. I haven't heard this album yet, but I can't even grasp the notion of this being like My Ruin, even slightly. If so, not a good sign...

Please take a look one more time at what I meant. I said that Asrai is heads and shoulders above My Ruin (which is beyond terrible), but simplistic songwriting laid onto an even more simplistic drumbeat does not put me in the fans' camp. Her voice is wonderful, however.

Ok, I thought you were saying that if, for instance, Tarrie B was fronting Asrai they'd sound like My Ruin. Gotcha!

Asrai are distinctly average, and that's coming from someone who likes girly Goth-rock. Good review, Alex.

Tarrie was better off with the dudes from Manhole/Tura Satana. My Ruin is backed by medicore musicians who don't write great tunes, and Tarrie's screaming just lacks hooks because the music isn't that great. They have some good songs, though.
