I honestly havent heard anything about them before. Do these guys sound anything like Porcupine Tree?

Ive still to hear anything else outside of this record, but if basing a comparison on this album and Porcupine Tree, I would not say that they are that much alike.

Hmmmm, its a bit difficult to separate, but as far as the proggyness goes, Porcupine has a lot more of the spacy, ambient influences down to pat, whereas White Darkness is based a lot more in simple, driving rock, just tinkering with the tempos occasionally. I guess that would be a simple difference. Porcupine is a lot more out there, hazier (especially their early stuff) but Nightingale seems to be more straightforward and rooted in hard rock and very strong pop melodies.

Dan wrote nearly none of the music on this album. His brother Dag wrote 99% of the music. In fact, most of the songs are re-workings of old songs he wrote in the 80s.

Disappointment for me. I love Gale, heard almost all of their songs, and truly respect Swano and his vocal. We croatians say "ljiga" and i truly can't translate the word, but it would be something like "a bit boring". And the word perfectly explains this album. I give it 75.

This album is far from boring. Your opinion, of course. Either way, a 75 is way too high for a boring album.

haha, not boring completely of course. A BIT boring. a bit boring compared to their other stuff i liked. 75 is because it's still nightingale, some songs still hold the vibe, like the title track or the first tune.
