Blackened Technical Death Metal? Interesting. It's on my Christmas list, so I'll get to see what it's like soon.

I don't know. IMO it is more black than death but it's def uber technical. This band keeps on surprising the shit out of me! Awesome stuff...

Holy nuts. I can only wonder what their next release will sound like.

100/100, from me.

I got SMRC but I haven't really been able to get into it...his description of Kenose as epic and progressive makes me think that I might like that more. I dunno, I'll just have to see.

The cleaner production really makes me love this album. It's easily just as good as its predecessors in my humble opinion.

I'm with Dago on this one, though I'll be a dick about it.This is Black Metal easily.Technical sure, for black metal. But its structures, sounds, moods, hell everything scream BM.I hear nothing that sounds like a tech-death band.Granted I am an elitist bastard, but as much as I love Tech/brutal/oldschool/whatever death metal,I love black metal too.One thing that I really enjoy about this new wave ov BM is the more adventurous spirit and risk taking. There really are some amazing works ov art coming out now,and for that I am grateful.

If there's one thing just about all ov us agree on,its that regardless ov what genre we label this band, they fucking slay!!! :dio:

I can't find a single bad thing to say about this band and this album. Album of the year hands down.

Click on that link for the End Records store at the bottom of the review. They should have samples.

As for the genre label, I stand by it. Sure, this album has an undeniable black metal feel. However, if I just labeled this "black metal", as SMRC was, I don't feel that's entirely accurate. The rhythm section definitely takes on a death metal sound, and being that it is so frenzied and precise, I labeled it technical. Genre labels are sometimes the toughest part of the review. This one is a good example. This album is awesome though, whatever the genre. It's a close second for album of the year in my book.

I've only heard A Chore for the Lost, which is bloody amazing. The album's been ordered for a couple of weeks, still no sign...
