But you do get the guys (like uh, me) who listen to 90% metal, wear 'the uniform,' drink in rock pubs etc that don't fit the stupid metalhead stereotype.

It can be comfortable being in an atmosphere where you can pick out people with similar tastes to your own without being a sheep, you know?

Rob Halford is bald and homosexual. Does it make him any less a metalhead? I think not.

I feel that if you love and listen to the music then you're a metal fan/metalhead. I don't draw any distinction between the two. Leather, band shirts, long hair, etc have become stereotypes for the genre but not definitives for all fans and musicians.

Be who you are but love the metal!!

:dio:

I'm late, but better late than never.

I honestly don't look metal. People say I look like a father of 3, with by beer belly crushing anything in it's way. But hey, that's pretty metal, right?

My favourite band is a metal band, Iron Maiden. I do listen to non-metal music as well. I don't dress metal all the time. Got tired of people giving weird stares at my As Sahar t-shirt. Fuck.

I guess you can differentiate between a metal fan and a metalhead.

Metal fan: A person who enjoys the genre

Metalhead: A person who enjoys the genre and assumes anything else is bullshit. Headbanging is not just an appreciation to the music but more of an exercise since most metalheads are drunken beerheads and buttfucking lazy.

I don't really see a huge difference between the two terms.
I don't dress metal in the slightest. The music I listen to is probably 80% metal. The other 20% is most likely 80s pop and rock. I do have friends that listen to metal [Nicodemus being one of them] but my friends at school don't listen to metal at all. I don't really drink and such.
