This is one of my favorite releases this year so far. The distinctiviness of the band is a big plus for me and the mix of the border-line Power/Traditional Metal with the slower to mid-paced Doom is really appealing to me. The leads on here are excellent and the though the vocals a tad one dimensional they sound original enough and are sung with enough emotion it didn't bother to much. I'm interested to know why you didn't feel this CD should score higher, Jeff.

The one thing that was a big plus for me on this release was faster songs. But the other thing that I was a bit let down by (which I usually mention in my reviews and only implied somewhat) was the over all production. The drums sound a bit muddy ("not thunderous") and there's not as much bottom end where the bass is concerned. The overall sound is not as full, alot less highs or treble ranges. This is what I notice most when comparing it to the last two releases. I almost gave this a 78/100. Still a respectable score. :)

I noticed the production was a bit muted too. In a way it added some extra character to the sound and the flipside to that was the power and forcefulness of past releases was kind of lost though.

If you like bands like Tyr, Viking era Bathory or even Candlemass then this should be right up your alley!

An awesome album, invigorating and honest. As much as detest the neutered and polished, this is straight from the heart, not hiding behind the production. yeah, just a little polish would have brought more power, but it is strong and masculine nevertheless. What epic metal is all about.

I love the production (I really like muddy and meaty production for heavy metal) and riffs, not so sure about the vocals
