Good album, I am pleasantly surprised although I usually just skip track one, it has some good parts but is too long and sounds like something Therion would do. The rest of the album is very good. I like her voice a lot as well.

I just wanted to go on record as saying that I've totally changed my opinion of this CD. I've slowly gotten over the absence of Tarja's distinctive voice. Anette does a fantastic job on this. She is a very talented vocalist and she does the new material justice. She deserves tons of credit for the work she put into this CD and the new life she's helped breath into Nightwish. It was a brave move on the part of Tuomos to employ a new singer who's voice is absolutely the opposite of Tarja's operatic style. It seems he definitely knew what he was doing.

So, I was just too harsh of a critic on DPP earlier. It really is a great Nightwish CD.

90?? wtf! This album is suuuper poppy, might as well play it in clubs with its bombastic dance beats...theres no way this album comes close to 90. Didn't anyone take into consideration that this barely borderlines metal?

So....did you just sign on today to talk shit about the ratings? What a worthwhile endeavor!

And by worthwhile I mean a complete and utter fucking waste of time.

If I ever enter a club and hear songs like: The Poet and The Pendulum, Sahara, Master Passion Greed, The Islander, Last of The Wilds or 7 Days To The Wolves I might actually start going to clubs.

Now shut up and listen to the album because Im pretty sure you've only heard (and I stress the word heard) the songs: Bye Bye Beautiful, Amaranth, and Eva (which are good songs actually) and then judged the album based off that. If you've listened to the entire album you wouldn't have made a comment like that or hey, maybe you're just f'in dumb.

This album is really, really good. Poppy? Sure. It's an improvement, I think.

Borderline metal? This is a total metal album! Throw Tarja back on this one and no one would say that. Nor would they say it was poppy. A vocalist might make something seem like one certain style (see Trivium and metalcore), but the music is really what defines it.

Sometimes it really seems like every metal-loving troll on the internet comes crawling out when this band is mentioned. Just go and read some NW reviews on the Archives. Tarja's presence on this album wouldn't have changed anything, because people accused "Once" of being poppy too  There's also some moron saying that AFF is their most metal album

Having said that, after dozens of spins I have to say that this might be their weakest album since the debut, or at least since "Wishmaster". Still a very good album though, I would give it somewhere between 75-80.

See I say it's about the same as Wishmaster. Wishmaster is so overated, I got fed up with that album long time ago.

1. Oceanborn
2. Century Child
3. Wishmaster, Once, Dark Passion Play (all at about the same level, don't feel like ranking them )
4. Angels Fall First

Anyhow all Nightwish albums have something good. Annette is doing a great job, I enjoy her voice and I'm anxious to hear what Nightwish's next album will be like with her participating fully to it's development.
