I keep hearing good things about Ayeron but never really paid much attention to them for some reason will have to check this out to see what the big deal is.

Ayreon is a band that you must listen to. I don't mean that in a generic sense, as in a "check them out" kind of way. I'm talking about sitting down, turning the music on, and just absorbing it. It's epic, grandiose, and...deep, for lack of a better word. There are plenty of songs you can just turn on and rock out to, but the bulk of Ayreon's music is more cerebral. Great stuff for reading, thinking, road trips, etc. Not so good for working out and whatnot. Haha.

One of my all-time favorite bands, and I've been into them since the Universal Migrator albums. An awesome band.

I've heard this album twice and I loved it. Deleted the download, though. Now I can only find the 2CD version around here. I want the one with the DVD, too. Hopefully it comes in soon.

Great album. I love the Migrator albums and while 01001101 (or whatever) isn't as good as those it's still good enough to be a candidate for album of the year 2008.

I pretty much agree with the review. The Katatonia singer sounds amazing, especially on the "Time - but a curve in space" part in Age of Shadows. Lande is his usual awesome self. I'm not gonna name all the great songs since I'll end up naming most of them, but there are a few bad ones. The lyrics on Connect The Dots and Web Of Lies makes me cringe. I'm not very fond of those songs at all and I usually skip them.

Still, this would be my favorite album of 2008 so far. Not that there's much competition yet but if this album had been released in 2007 it would have landed in my top 3. It's epic, it's melodic, it's heavy, it's dramatic... A big lift over the boring The Human Equation, though I seem to be a minority in that opinion.

This is a fantastic CD! Once again Ayreon does not disappoint. This is what I would describe as a vast musical landscape (or soundscape). It's very rich, complex, and what I would call dense. There is just so much to listen to. For god's sake listen to this with quality headphones on.

The song that features Jonas Renkse of Katatonia is awesome. I'm taking my time getting through the 2 cd's but that track really initially jumped out at me.

This is an excellent album. I love how the sound shifts around so much between albums. Time will only tell if the new one grows like the human equation did.

Words cannot describe how great this album is. Simply amazing.

And as far as the lyrics for Connect The Dots & Web of Lies ; you have to understand Arjen's sense of humor. Don't take them too seriously.

I've skinned it and think it will be a masterpiece on par with Human Equation.

Every Ayreon album has a few cringe-worthy lines. In fact, it's not uncommon with musicians that write in English when it's not their first language. They miss the nuances of the words and don't grasp how cheesy they really sound. It's hard for me to fault them for that.

I picked up the 2CD/DVD version today ($18.99), so I can now give it a good solid listen.

Yeah thats what i tried to say

Anyway this album is excellent i cant really say if its better or worse than the Human Equation, because honestly every Ayreon album is different and this is no exception.

Who is the guy who sings the "Do we have the right to play gods" part on New Born Race? is that Jorn? he sounds a lot like Phil Lynnot to me :omfg:

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's Jorn. I've seen others make that comparison on this album too. I don't have an opinion on it myself, I haven't listened to Thin Lizzy much.

Great album only problem is I had a hard time getting past first track wanted to keep replaying it. Reminded me of Star One.

You know, the booklet tells you who's singing what. Wait...what? You don't have a booklet?

Now, now, let's not jump to conclusions. I purchase alot of my music (legally) through Napster, so I don't get booklets very often either. In fact, this very album is available there right now. If I were to purchase this digitally, I don't feel that there is anything wrong with that. Not saying that's the case here, just saying.

Have you ever thought about getting a job with the RIAA? If you ever do, put me down as a reference!
