Godsmack = Bad. And that's 'bad' as in 'not good', not 'bad' as in 'BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDD!'

I have no problems with Godsmack. They don't ever claim to be metal, or brutal, or hardcore, so you can't really lump them in with the nu-metal bands. They're just modern hard rock done fairly well.

I got to hang out with the guys from GS when they came to the club I worked at. They're pretty cool and down to earth, but Sully can't hold his liquor for shit.

I like their sound especially vocals, but their songs and lyrics are so repetitive that it either puts me to sleep or really annoys me.

I think they are nu-metal--heck their music is even played in the US Army TV commercial.

They don't claim to metal though. If you listen to the guys talk about they band, the say they're just a hard rock band trying to bring back guitar solos

There are a lot worse bands out there but I don't find them all that interesting. Not Nu-Metal. There's no rapping and almost no whiney vocals. There are actual rock riffs too.

All their songs were formerly Alice In Chains F-sides.

Keep Away has one good riff, though.

ya i agree they are not nu-metal. They aren't good but, like crims said, there are definitely worse things to listen to.

I'm trying to think of other bands that would be in the same category as Godsmack but can't think of any. Can you guys come up with any?

I'd Say Finger-Eleven fits nicely in that Hard Rock category although their material is stronger than Godsmack IMO

Never heard of them.

The Bands 2 guitarists do a very good job at creating intesting dynamics and atmosphere. Listen to their albums Tip or self titled, I sugest you avoid The Greyest of Blue Skies.

My Favorite tracks, Quicksand, Awake and Dreaming, Costume for a gutterball, Absent Elements and Obvious Heart

they have some pretty nice solos on their most recent release (self titled).

Edit: forgot to mention 2 other great tracks: "Suffocate" and "Sick of it all"

Since when is nu-metal about rapping? to me Nu-metal is MTV/radio friendly simple metal.
