CRYPTOPSY Calls It Quits

Montreal's CRYPTOPSY has revealed that they have decided to postpone all future CRYPTOPSY performances and the release of the group's forthcoming album, "The Unspoken King", Drummer Flo Mounier had this to say:

"Due to the current circumstances of the fans being unable to comprehend our new material, we have decided to call it quits

It should be said, however, that this will probably not be permanent, but we shall see. For we, the band, feel that the fans deserve from us something that they can appreciate no matter how closed minded they may be, and as such we have failed

to deliver such to them, it is our obligation to quit and reevaluate the situation and take stock of our lives. We did not wish to alienate our entire fan base, let alone do it before the album even hit the shelves, but alas that is exactly what we have done. As such we have decided that the best thing to do at the moment is to drop off the SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR and postpone he release of our new album "The Unspoken King", possibly forever. We are very sorry if some of you were looking forward to seeing us on tour, but it must be said that as a band, the reaction we got from the leaked songs was not positive at all and it was felt that the same reaction would probably occur out on tour. Therefore, we have decided to not continue on with our

current tour and album commitment. Again, we are sorry and want to thank ll the loyal fans for years of buying our stuff and going to see us live despite the line up changes we've had over the years!"

CRYPTOPSY's last studio album, "Once Was Not", was released in 2005 via Century Media Records and has sold 77,000 copies world wide.

Respect.
I think they have done the right thing. But Flo, we are not close-minded, we are just realists.

Good call. I will gladly forget my favorite death metal band doing something this stupid and I'll still eagerly wait for the new one.

That seems kind of childish almost to me. "No one likes us now so were just going to go home." If they have completely quit I'm going to be pissed.

Whew.

At least they haven't gone completely insane. I still don't like how Flo is so insistent on the fans being "close-minded" when they release something that sounds like Puddle Of Mudd went Hardcore.

The best thing that can happen would be if they dropped the vocalist/keyboardist, and got Lord Worm back to kick them into shape again.

I think they should have released it anyway. Some people were sure to buy it for yuks.

In his defence I think he meant "we started as extreme metal." Not that they started the genre.

Anyhoo, I know next to nothing about Cryptopsy and am finding this whole affair dreadfully amusing.

Edit:
Wait, isn't the song at the top of this page from the new album, or am I a very confused T Rex?

The first song "Worship Your Demons" or whatever is. Listen to Slit Your Guts to see how awesome they were.

I think this all turning out to be an elaborate hoax would break my brain.

Until that "quote" from Flo shows up from a legitimate news source(not Wikipedia), I will consider it fake. I seriously doubt the band just up and called it quits when CM and their webpage is still promoting the new album.

I'm sorry but with ANY article with a statement or " facts " please post a link as a source. I don't buy this.

As much as it'd be badass for them to go back to the drawing board, I don't see it happening. They're going to release the shittastic album, hopefully learn from their mistakes, and recoup for the next.

Yeah that song. I don't hear any "Puddle of Mudd gone hardcore" in that.

So they are still going ahead with it? Darn, I felt quite proud of them for not doing the new crap...

I made that analogy after listening to the song in the first post of the thread. The "Worship Your Demons" song sounds like stright-up shitty hardcore.
