pretty good stuff, there's some really amazing riffs on here and it never gets dull. i'm not a big fan of Tim's vocals though, especially how he multitracks them :\

with devin townsend it suits his music well because everything is so huge, but with something like Pharaoh, who are more stripped down guitar-bass-drums-vocals, i don't think having half the vocals be choir-style really works.

Now this is what I call intelligent metal! Just got it in the mail this past weekend. Very layered and textured compisitions. Reminds me a lot of Control Denied actually. Albums like this make the Edguy and Hammerfall types seem boring and irrelevant.

So far the opening track 'Speak to Me' is my favorite but there is so much to uncover with this album it will take me a while to grasp everything going on. Love albums like this! They have a long lasting listening cycle.

Good to hear bands like Pharaoh out there pushing the boundries a bit while not getting overly carried away. Other bands I have discovered recently like this are Empyrios and Byzantine to go along with mainstays like Nevermore and Evergrey.

Respect.....

Not a bad album, well played with tons of good guitar hooks... The melodies are not memorable, I expect better...

55/100

After 2 weeks of listening, this album grew on me. I love Tim's vocals, and the great melodies. I think this is an album i will be able to listen for more than a few months... A big suprise in this year.

Don't you hate when you walk into a store, and see all the CDs by a particular band .. and you are trying to remember which one got the highest rating on Metalreviews?

Anyways luckily I picked up the right one! Good stuff here. Very lush production, great vocals, decent songwriting.
