Been awhile since I've looked at the chest. Good deal. Snag it.

Well if you've acquired a taste for decent RPGs like Baldur's gate you'd probably want to look into the Elder Scrolls side of things if you haven't already. Diablo I and II are a fairly linear hack 'n' slash sort of affair, with no plot to speak of. Very enjoyable games, but not if you're expecting another Bioware sort of game.

You're not the only one. BG2 is the better game but I also thought BG1 was more fun. Or I think... I need to play them again some time soon to say for sure.

Totally agree. All people should understand that games like The Elder Scroll series and most Bioware releases are true RPGs while Diablo and DiabloII were action RPGs or one could even call them action games wearing RPG clothes. In more vague standards both Diablos could easily classify as RPG since you actually select and play a role that is very different from the other choices, you evolve and develop your character the way you like it and you choose your equipment accordingly. However it's mostly due to the action-heavy gameplay that they can't be called true RPGs.
Don't get me wrong though, it might be an action-RPG and not a hardcore one but any of the two Diablos is a very enjoyable game. As a hardcore RPGer myself, I have to admit that Diablo1 is easily in my top5 most played games ever.

Hahah. It's buried somewhere deep in my room upstairs, and I'm not going to bother finding it if I want to pass my exams next month.

In other news, I am playing Half-Life and the expansion packs again. I'm amazed by the length of these games, nothing like the uber-short first person shooter single player campaigns of today.

1) Turn based combat sucks ass.

2) Anyone played Diablo II: LOD so damn much they had to resort to excel spreadsheet editing to mod the gameplay to make it fun again? I used to spend countless hours doing just that. I have some weird shit going on. fighting 10 diablos at once...fighting all the bosses at once (and I mean all of them)

Theres a great no-frills program out there to edit the files and packer-unpacker.

I stopped playing it before the 1.10 patch came around. Frankly I got too damn sick of waiting the thing to get released. I think it took around 2 years for it to finally show up.

I'm totally okay with a more shallow RPG right now, since I have a lot on my mind and could use a game where I can relax while playing.

Nope. I've played all the classic games and can't get into this form of combat at all. I guess all but about 10 million people that play those games are idiots then. Almost more people bought "The Final Countdown" than play turn-based RPG. People want action damn it and that is why GTA games will sell 10 million copies and FF won't.

Turn based games are often more geared towards thorough thinking, whereas real time stuff puts more emphasis on reaction speed. To each his own. I like both.

The higher difficulty levels have been ramped up immensely in subsequent patches, so you'll really need that high-end equipment.

Essentially, It IS a turn based game considering that every mouse click is not an attack. You must hold the mouse button down to attack and the character attacks as fast as they are capable. The main difference is that you do not have to wait and use menus for the combat. If you understand the mechanics of this game it is extremely fast-paced turn-based combat that doesn't play in that style at all. But at its core its strait up D&D.
