Nice review. It is indeed an amazing album, will be in the top 3 or 5 at years end fo' sho.

My only issue with the album (and its a small one) is that the speed which made The Gathering such a classic for me (Its one of my favorite albums of all time and gets a near perfect score) isn't on this one in full force. For a band to follow an album like The Gathering is nigh impossible anyways and Testament have come very close.

Its really amazing how even though 9 years have gone by, you wouldn't know it from the sound of the album. Testament really deserve more credit as a band.

More Than Meets The Eye, F.E.A.R, and Leave Me Forever are easily my favorite songs on the album

I'm still listening to it, but is growing quickly in me. Is great to see old bands still rocking. And yeah, I think too that it will end in the top lists of many sites, including this, which is the best

Indeed a great album from such a legendary Thrash band! Good review. Very immediate album for Testament as the melodies seem to jump out and grab you from the very first listen. And yes Skolnick's leads are great to hear again!

I didn't remember liking the 'Gathering' nearly as much as this, but with all of the praise people keep heaping upon it maybe I need to clean out my ears and go back and listen to it again?

Anyway this album along with Pharaoh 'Be Gone' and Brainstorm 'Downburst' are at the top of my list so far for 2008.

P.S. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Testament is the absolute heaviest band out there that uses mostly clean vox. I think that is a very cool attribute and seperates them from the pack a bit!

It's a good album, but i think The Gathering was better...

I feel this is their best since "Practice What You Preach". Skolnik was a vital part of the early line up and what he offers on this album has been missing for years on most Testament albums. Testament sound rejuvenated and not recycled like Overkill. Good shit!

The new Moonlyght is awesome!

As is the new Testament. I actually think it's better than The Gathering. "DNR" is the best song on that album, and while it's killer, I don't think any other song on the album comes close to be as great as that opening track. While this new album doesn't have a track as brutal and awesome as "DNR," the songs overall are far more consistent than those on The Gathering. I'm not skipping any on this album, whereas I've pretty much always skipped a few on The Gathering.

ugh.... Testament is boring. always has, always will

Ive been waiting for this album to come out for a long fucking time. Easily one of my favorite bands as well as the best thrash band(Fuck Metallica!) Testament doesn't really get the recognition they deserve. Im sick of those people that are like"Metallica rules man" Im always like "you heard of Testament" ........."No." Bitch! I oughta punch your fuckn heart!!!

I see why people really like this album, but as i have already said i'd like them a lot more if they sped things up a bit.

I see your from Norway........Darkthrone is the most boring piece of shit band I've ever heard. I cant believe I payed money for that piece of shit Transylvanian Hunger album. What an overrated pile of anus. Id rather have someone spray rectal mist all over my face than listen to another one of their albums. The only good song I've heard from them is Cromlech....... oh, but wait, thats cuz Emperor covered it. A good Norwegian band. Something about all the repetition in Darkthrone's music reminds me of something............Oh Yeah, RAP!!!

I agree 100% with this review. Testament simply rules, and this album was well worth the years I've spent waiting for it. It may even be the best Testament album yet (certainly a toss up between this and The Gathering for me), and certainly the best album I've heard yet this year.
