Good review Zad. It's about as raw as a burn wound, but taht's part of the attraction.

My brother loves this CD.

Metallica's version of Mechanix (ie the Four Horseman) can't even come close to the one on this album IMO. The difference between them totally embodies the differences between the albums as a whole. KEA is great but sort of a mish mash and the band finding a sound that they would perfect later, whereas KIMB just sounds perfect, like Dave new exactly what he was doing for every note.

If this was released today it would still sound fresh and new.

Good review, but a small correction:

Dave Mustaine got off drugs just before the recording of Rust In Peace (although he was a habitual smoker until Countdown To Extinction's recording began). So, technically, he was only on drugs during the first 2/5 or so of his career.

Also, I kind of disagree with your statement about Rust In Peace not being a thrash album. I think prog-thrash would probably describe that album perfectly. And Peace Sells... But Who's Buying was also very proggy.

Are you sure? I'm sure I remembering reading in an interview that he had an OD in 1993.

Well yes, but they're not pure Thrash, are they? You know what I meant...

I love both Mechanix and The Four Horsemen but Metallica's version gets my vote... James' voice my much better than Dave's and, though both lyrics are kind of stupid, I've always liked Metallica's best.

Great album, 90-95/100 for me.
But not a classic, Peace Sells and RIP are the great Megadeth classics (and my fav's with Countdown to extincion)

Are you saying that you don't think this should be a classic? If so, then I have to disagree. This should really be a classic and scored in the 90's. Most debuts from the classic speed/thrash metal pioneers like Exodus, Testament, Anthrax, Metallica, etc are classics. The remastering on this album is great! I actually kept myu original CD because of the unedited version of "These Boots".

You brushed up against it, but an archive review for KIMB...ABIG! is just silly.

Indeed, it deserved a classic status!

Heck, you know that, I know that, but pure Aryan Thrashers don't.
