Actually, the idea that all Christians are against evolution is a myth. Sure, you have these guys who can't stand their faith being a little shook up and call evolution "devilution." But there also many Christians who strictly support evolution. In fact, believe it or not, statistically many of Evolution's biggest supporters are Christians.

Personally, I don't really have a firm opinion on how mankind came to be. Although I have a feeling Big Bang (which I believe in) played some kind of role in it.

how can you not believe in evolution but in Big Bang !? The Big Bang theory is closely linked to evolution, your answers are in contradiction...

First of all, Big Bang and Evolution explain different phenomena: Big Bang explains how the world was created. Evolution explains how human beings came to be. So even though they're closely linked, they're not necessarily completely congruent.

Secondly (and this ties in with my first statement), the fact that I don't believe in Evolution doesn't necessarily mean I don't believe human beings gradually developed over time. I just don't believe we descended from apes (the basic essence of Evolution), just as I don't believe birds descended from dinosaurs. I believe we gradually learned traits like walking upright, and I also believe in both adaption and natural selection. But I don't believe apes were our prototypical ancestors. I don't at all deny the possibility (until time travel allows us to go back to the very beginning and see for ourselves what happened, we'll never know for sure), but right now I don't believe it. I guess I believe more in "prototypical human beings" of some kind existing in the beginning, but not as apes. The whole idea of human beings descending from apes - it's a nice story, but it just doesn't seem completely logical to me (regardless of how many traits we may share in common). I'm no anthropologist, but this is how I feel about the subject right now.

evolution doesn't say we're descended from apes. it says we share a common ancestor. also if you believe in natural selection and adaptation, then you believe in evolution... if you disagree with scientists about specifics like humanity/apes's common ancestor, you should do some research and write your thesis on it or something

May be I should've been a little more clear with my "Evolution" question then, since I was thinking of the commonly accepted interpretation of it (that human beings were descended from apes and/or ape-like creatures). Though, if you're using the term "evolution" in its more literal definition (the one you just gave), then yes, you could say I believe in some kind of "evolution." I hesitate to call it THE "Evolution", though, since it doesn't completely follow the standard interpretation of Evolution.

As for writing my thesis on it, ehhhh, I think I'll stick to computer science for now. Thank you very much. ;)
