It seems these guys will never make a "Shadows and Dust" again... They went downhill with every album... (except maybe with In The Arms of Devastation)

Serenity In Fire?

I agree with Octa...This album is a tad bit boring. I'm a huge Kataklysm fan and even though I miss my northern hyperblast I still enjoyed In The Arms of Devastation quite a bit... Prevail just sounds even more watered down.

Not terrible but not great.

I guess I am in a minority here, but I have been a lifelong Kataklysm fan and can forgive them a lot (even own a Temple of Knowledge signed promo by all band members). This isn't an awesome revelation which was Shadows and Dust, and isn't even Serenity of Fire or In the Arms of Devastation. Just a reasonable commercial melodic groovy death metal. Not sure if I hear any 'core here (although the title track does annoy me too), but there, as Alex James said, +10 points from a lifelong fan.

This band has played nothing but mediocre deathcore ever since Sylvain Houde left the band, is anyone really surprised?

Deathcore? What? What it is is a vanishing breed of metal - pure death metal with hooks. Those of us who've been around awhile remember when death metal actually had hooks. So if you like your death metal with distinguishable head-banging rhythm and great riffs, this is it. If you like the newer dissonant style of death metal, well, then maybe not.

I do hope you stick around Smitty. We could be good friends!

I remember being fairly indifferent to this one. Didn't quite measure up to previous albums in terms of song composition and the riffs didn't grab me near as much as Arms or Shadows did.
