I disagree for two reasons:
1. If the president looks bad, so does the rest of the country. The Monica Lewinsky case about ten years ago demonstrated this quite nicely.
2. His questionable private life could be indicative of an ethically questionable presidency.
1: How does it makes the rest of the country look bad? The only thing that has potential to make a country look bad is bad political decisions - often foreign policy. Not everybody cares about politicians' private life.
2: Perhaps, but that's the problem with many american voters. They think a president who can catch an american football, have a perfect happy family, and has the right religous belief - or simply religious enough, makes the best president. Hence all the lame campaign ads and debates about the candidates private life, what bad things they did when they were young, and which jackasses they know or don't know. Makes me wanna puke my guts out! Primitive.
