Linear B is great fun to read.

And Brahm, hope you get to do August's Res Gestae Divi Augusti. If you're even mildly interested in politics, you'll find it a blast to translate and read. But it's far more likely you will get Vergilius or Ovidius, of course. Not necessarily worse. Can't go wrong with that period.

Ha, no Linear B yet... Just regular old Classical Athenian Greek. I do hope I get to do the Res Gestae- I've only read it in translation, but as you say, it is damn interesting, and a lovely piece of autobiographical propaganda. Augustus was the man.

Trapt: I hear that learning the alphabet is actually the easiest part of learning Greek, which is pretty depressing.

Aren't you a freshman? Your classes seem to be pretty focused; don't other colleges have you focus mainly on electives the first two years?

Anyway, I started my own business and I hope it just gets busier in the coming months. It's already picking up lots of steam, and I hope it continues.

I'm in my 3rd year but I still have a lot of classes from 1st and 2nd years. I fucked around a bit too much.

Microeconomy is fine but like Raven said Macro fucking sucks. I failed it last year even though I did great in my mid-term exam.

You probably should've waited until after your Calculus course to take Physics w/ Calculus. Typically, such a course assumes you already know pretty much everything you learn/develop in a Calc 1 course (derivatives, integrals, limits, etc).

Ahhh. That is what I did except there weren't many at my community college so my senior year is basically going to be 4 philosophy courses a quarter with one random elective.

I'm starting my PhD this semester. It's on the relationship between Western and Chinese trade unions... I guess for the first semester I will be doing a literature survey.

I once worked as a teaching assistant at an IB school, and I didn't really find the curriculum any more challenging than the curriculum at my high school. One difference, however, is that there's an IB exam all students are required to take before graduation, and if they pass, they can earn AP credit in college. This is the main reason why an IB curriculum typically looks good on a college resume - automatic AP credit just for being in the program. A curriculum similar or equivalent to the IB curriculum is also used in a lot of European and Asian countries, which is why at an IB school you're likely to have a lot of international students (some of which actually come from half way across the world just to go to this school).

Actually the IB should be easier than what I've been doing for the last two years. Swiss high schools are selective, and have 12 courses going on simultaneously, in addition all the science courses (biology, chemistry, physics) are all taken together each year (unlike the US system, where you have one per year); and all the languages (italian, english, german and spanish) are also all taken together every single year. In comparison, the IB has only six subjects, which I myself get to choose, three of which at a standard level (so I can take the easy math course since I suck at math) and three of which at a high level (so I can focus on literature and history, which is my forté).

I just put calculus because I didn't think it would mean anything to anyone, but i actually took pre-calc/calc last year and this year i'm taking ap calc bc. so yeah. I know how to do all that stuff.

I need to buy an acoustic guitar for my ensemble class.

I'll use my grant money for that. I love scholarships. :]
