And Warrel Dane's one of my favorite singers. Holy Jesus, that guy's good. If anything, I'd say he's overlooked. Nasally tone my ass.

I've heard a couple songs from this album, and it really didn't sound all that special. I'll just wait for the new Nevermore.

+1, Warrel Dane is one of the best metal vocalists around, soaring but still somehow brutal, with an instantly recognisable voice, a problem which can be seen in other clean singers which are normally Bruce Dickinson/Geoff Tate/Kiske clones.

Don't think that I'm going to bother checking this out, but I heard the cover of Lucretia My Reflection on youtube, and it made me cringe.

Album is well played and produced, and I was actually looking forward to the more straight up, song oriented approach that Dane advertised (some of the really chaotic Nevermore stuff is not my thing so much), but after repeated attempts to get into this album, while the songs are well constructed I just think the hooks and choruses were more miss than hit. For songs that were supposed to be more immediate, melodic, etc., for me there is just not a whole lot here that really gets stuck in the head or has that instant replay value . . . there's no "Believe In Nothing."

That said, I do really like "When We Pray" and "August" and a couple others. Also, I was not overly familiar with Sisters of Mercy, so for me the high octane treatment of Lucretia was another one of the highlights.

And while I think Dane has some serious chops and a unique style, I can't say he is one of my personal all-time favorites. I think those that are really into his singing would get more out of this and be a little more forgiving of the songs themseleves

I saw this and felt that it had to be shared here at MR. The link is for Warrel Dane's video for his song "Brother". He wrote some emotionally raw lyrics for this song and the video is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Meaning that it exemplifies the point of the song very well.
