Yeah but the guy did score an album he might've listened to a handful of items the same score as what classic albums are scored.

Why cant a new album which is a killer not deserve a score that is the same as a classic album may get?

I dont understand your logic here...so you're saying that no album deserves a rating of 90+ unless its an old classic?

If the album deserves a high score, so be it. That ratings system is not just there for classic albums.

There are awesome new albums out there at the moment that do have a rating of 90+. Are they all rated incorrectly? I think not

I have a recurring grudge against the rating system and yes I believe that unless an album has the quality of which it will become a classic ten years later it shouldn't be rated that highly.

And yes there are albums currently being released which should be rated that high, but Dragonforce rinsed and repeated, in my opinion to be politically correct, isn't worthy of 90 but more like a 40 or whatever I rated it.

There is no point posting replies for a reviewed album , for when an album is leaked or samples released its dicussed in the general forum at length . By the time the album is reviewed that topic may or may not have been discussed to death....

I would be more than happy to read a review and skip all the point
less banter that can go on after a reviewer has done his job...

My point .....get rid of this section as i dont want to read ppl bashing reviewers....

+1

Agreed. If the reviewer feels that a CD is worthy of a particular score then so be it. If the review is as unbiased and objective as possible then there is no reason to criticize the reviewer and/or his opinion. As a listener, you have the right to your own opinion of the music you listen to. Should you be ultra-criticized or degraded due to your own musical preference? I think not. So it would be best to act in kind.

I completely agree with this, and that's why I'm always hinting that I'm glad there's not a forum on MCDR...
If I got unsupportive and slamming replies to every review that was published on MCDR, I would quickly lose motivation to continue writing and publishing reviews.

Keep in mind, I think it's fine when people pop in and disagree with the rating and review (ratings and reviews are just opinions - I don't expect everyone to agree with reviewers), but it's the slamming, degrading and unnecessary comments that take it over the top.

If you read the review its well written and makes for a decent read....Dont look at a score and go off into a abusive rant...

I have been here since 2002/03 and you all do an excellent job, Ross keep up the good work

That's a lame reason, man. It's like saying, this red balloon sucks because it's not red enough.

Basically, if you disagree with a score, try not to get so fired up about it. It is an opinion, after all. Insulting the reviewers intelligence/writing skill is completely unnecessary.

Oh, and speaking of unnecessary, please keep the "I downloaded the leak" type comments to yourself...please.

I review albums for another site so I know how much time and thought goes into expressing your opinion. I also think it is good that readers can express their views like is done here. But as said above don't attack a reviewer, most of us are just doing something we really enjoy. But you can't get everyone happy we all like different things and there is no need to take it personally.

Not quite. It's that Dragonforce put all their cards in playing SUPERFAST and forget to write anything good.

And they KEEP DOING IT. It's sickening.

Thus: barf.

I picked this up yesterday with low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised. Granted, it's still the exact same thing and I'm sure it will eventually get old just like IR did, but I think it's definitely still worth listening to several times. I'd give it maybe 84/100.

+1, a 92 is laughable for Dragonforce, they're not that good. I heard Heroes of Our Time, and it still sounds exactly like Through the Fire and Flames.

I think we should get rid of quotes.

Seriously. Check out a place like Ground and Sky Reviews, great site w/ no quotes.

Do I want to come to MR and read a post like the one ( Wsx 26 ) , posted .... Well , the answer is NO.....

I think I was about 10 years old last time I used that line, It would be interesting to hear his honest opinion, and give a valid reason of his disapproval of the said review or even the band.

Could it be that ( Wsx 26) is not even smart enough to put more than 2 words together.....
