I use to post in another metal forum, but those guys were so old school and underground I couldn't keep up. Plus all the members were dicks, if you don't know this song from this album from this real obscure band you are an idiot. I still post there every once in a while, but I like the members here much much more.

Let me put it this way: It's in the nature of message board forums that, once they've been around long enough, a sort of "clique" amongst common posters is established. It becomes less like an internet forum and more like a coffee house. Especially in forums where off-topic posting is completely permitted.

about the seemingly diminishing curiosity regarding new music in the forum: at least to me, it's like with people. how many people can you put a face on? how many are friends and how many are mere acquaintances?

you know, how many bands/albums/songs can you "put a face on"? i have enough trouble as it is getting to know the classics, let alone new music, and that's with metal alone. add different genres and :wacko:

And you can both stop this. A prominent member of the forum PM'd me to say he was leaving because of the silly stuff that goes on around here, and it's a damn shame, he was an excellent poster.

Maybe a really big shakeup is what's called for. A new range of mods, cracking down on everything. Yeeeeees.
