I don't know how many of us here are NFL Football fans (and I know that then begs the discussion of what the rest of the world calls football) so I thought I would start a thread every week dedicated to that week's action. If it sounds like a good idea please feel free to post away. If not, then I guess everyone can tell me that I'm completely off my ass for starting the thread. :P

Top Story in week 1: Tom Brady is gone for the season. I'm loving that one. :D

A whole new thread each week, just for American football? Yikes.

Expect to see a new series of topics from me about the traditional English art of toast-juggling, coming soon.

That may open the way to new threads dedicated to the ancient art of sandblasting crusty clingers from doo dads and 'arse' holes. :omfg:

Eh, one permanent thread's fine for me. Anyway, I was happy that my boy Favre won his first game with the Jets yesterday. Even though I hate the Patriots, I still feel really bad for their fans over Brady being injured for the whole season- still, even without Brady, they're definitely a post season contender. And now I'm on and off watching my Packers play, and with about 10 minutes to go, they are happily up 17-12 over the Vikings.

I was happy for Favre as well. That catch by Stuckey was incredible. As for Brady and the Patriots, I'm not reveling in Brady's injury or bad luck but after their incredible arrogance last season it's kind of nice to get a reprieve from having to hear about their perfection, the genius of Bill Belichick, and how they're favored to dominate and win it all again every week. I just get sick of watching the media suck up to NE every week.

Oh, I completely agree. Still, I'd never hope for an injury- I was more hoping that Brady would just suck.

Exactly!! That's how I should have phrased it.

I'm so pumped this year. This is my favorite time of year. Yeah, good to see Brett win, and bad to see Brady out, but how about them Bears? Where the hell did that come from?

We should call this American football thread, b/c I would love some college football discussion too. Go HUSKERS!!! :dio:

Good idea for the thread title. I was blown away by the Bears Sunday night as well. I've had major doubts about the Colts coming out of the gate strong and maintaining the same level of success that they've enjoyed in the past all season. With Marvin dealing with last year's injury and Manning still dealing with his knee issues I was skeptical at best. However, I thought that the Bears decision to stick with Orton @ QB was a good one.

As for college ball I'm shocked at what my ECU Pirates have done for the past two weeks. They may not stay ranked all season but they've beaten Virginia Tech and West Virginia. That alone makes me happy. :)

The Eagles are back baby!! Desean Jackson looks like a strong ROY candidate, and the defense was outstanding. I don't know if I can wait another 6 days to watch them thump the Cowgirls.

As for college, Purdue is probably going to suck this year, but as long as they beat Indiana, I'll be happy.

NESS, you making a shrine to Bo Pellini like the rest of Husker nation? Seriously, though, I heard him on Rome's radio show, and he sounds like he'll be a damn good coach. Then again, it's hard to get worse than the Beau Bridges lookalike they had coaching last year.

The Eagles did look damn good. I hope that McNabb can get through the season without injury. He looked incredible. I'm trying to pick up Desean Jackson for my fantasy squad.

Is anyone here interested in forming an MR fantasy football league this season? We did it last year and it's not too late. I can create one over at FoxSports and give the link here for those who want to join.

Sure, I'm in. Hopefully, I won't get my ass handed to me like last year.

I'm in too, but we need to hurry.

I know Raven will play, Trooper of Steel will play, Dylan played last year... Devoted played, but didn't really like it. Who else am I forgetting?

I'll give it a go, if you need a comedy entry. You'll have to explain it though.

Everyone who wants to manage a team PM me your e-mail address, I'll set up the league with a draft time for this Saturday or Sunday morning. If anyone has a better idea for a draft time let me know. I'll set it up through FoxSports.com. Get in touch with anyone here who may be interested.

Hey 'NESS' I am Raven...I've just had a make-over. :P

ZAD, you're more than welcome to participate. It's very easy.
