Amon Tobin owns. never really liked Venetian Snares (most of it sounds like a Nintendo malfunctioning to me; Rossz csillag had some pretty violins but then he'd ruin it by throwing a bunch of those annoying snares everywhere).

haven't heard the others :[

:[

tbh i've only heard like 3 electronic artists i like so far
;(

It's kinda silly to brag about how open minded you are. Because everyone knows that no one is as open minded as me.

I can't stand listening to Jane Doe but I also don't like that type of music.

I only listened to it for the first time fairly recently, but it is really good. I really wouldn't call it metalcore or hardcore, as the buttwipes over a MA obviously think since Converge aren't on there. I really don't know what I'd classify Jane Doe as. I may try to review it at some point, but as long as its prior to 2011, it has to be an archive. Sorry, dems da rules.

It should be a classic. That's all I'm gonna say.

And I would lean towards calling them Hardcore. Because they really have little to nothing in common with Metalcore. The riffs sound nothing like the standard ATG rip-offs, there are hardly any breakdowns to speak of, and even the vocals sound nothing like the vocals often associated with Metalcore. I find it wierd when people call them Metalcore when they have so little in common with the Metalcore scene.

It's hard to stick them with the Hardcore label too, but I think that's closest to hitting the point without getting ridiculously specific.

Wikipedia labels them mathcore, like DEP.

it's a good example of how terms change... they have a fair a bit in common with 'early' metalcore like Cave In, Botch, Acme and a few others (i'm not very familiar with the style... but yeah).

For the love of metal, please stop talking about music that ends with -core. Review Volumen Brutal by Baron Rojo and shut up. Actually review any of the first four Baron Rojo albums, because they rock hard as fuck. That is all.

+1.
And Angeles del infierno, Pacto Con El Diablo.

And classics, Angel Witch selftitled (yes, I know I always say the same, but it's a great classic), more Black Sabbath, Possessed, and some Thin Lizzy.

Angeles del Infierno are good, but Panzer's "Al Pie del Canon" is far superior. Angeles del Infierno did write one of the greatest metal songs ever in "Maldito Sea to Nombre."

Anyways my point was just to say that there was some classics missing I think it would be great to review them because I'm sure some young people come here starting listening to metal and they don't know metal's history very much yet, I think these milestones should not be ignored since they deserve at least this respect. I just said it in a rather drunk way.

Fair point, but although Metal Reviews was such a help back when I was getting into teh methuls, it was more for the forum. The majority of stuff reviewed here is advanced-level, whether it's obscure Power Metal or some of the more leftfield stuff that Mintrude and I are into. Young people are welcome to use the place as a guide to the more interesting side of Metal, yet there is a certain elitist viewpoint here - we're totally underground and independant and shit. As someone said, the majority of the people coming here know about early Black Sabbath, and like this place for the bands they don't hear about anywhere else... Of course, we will eventually get around to being the foremost authority on Metal and Metal-related acts on the entire internet, but for the moment the road is long, hard and uphill, and we pass the milestones when we can.

Underground my ass. Yeah sure Metallica is totally "underground", when compared to Kreator and other great classics. Why review classics if everyone knows about them, nobody knows about Metallica being a classic, hey let's review all of their albums. This is totally underground shit man.

Great, be an asshole, that always helps.

Look I love Kreator, much more than Metallica in fact. Actually, Pleasure to Kill is near the top of classics to-do list. Is it really worth being a whiny little bitch because stuff that you've already heard a million times doesn't get reviewed? Get over it.

Wow man, don't get so pissed off, you almost hurt my feelings. Haha. I wasn't even talking to you, so why don't you mind your own business anyways huh? If you're so sad that I disagree with reviewing all of the Metallica stuff, why don't you just ban me? I won't give a shit.

Sorry, I was a little harsh there, posts like the one you made are a pet peeve of mine. If you are talking shit about the site, then you are talking to me, and every other member of the staff that puts their time into writing reviews. There's a difference between disagreeing with what's reviewed and being a dick about it. You chose the latter, so I responded in kind. I realize it's not "cool" among thrash purists to like Metallica, but try not to be so whiny. It posts like the one you made that make me want to review my list of thrash classics that belong on this site less. These include Pleasure to Kill, Forbidden Evil, The Music of Erich Zann, Persecution Mania, etc.

Oh, and even if I could ban people, it would take a hell of a lot more than that to bring down the hammer.

I was being sarcastic about you hurting my feelings, you can't hurt my feelings, I have no feelings. And secondly I was only being a dick because I wanted to get people's attention on this matter (wich obviously I did). I'm no "thrash purist", I listen to almost all kinds of music. I just think Metallica was and are a grossly overrated band. I respect your site and all of the reviewers like I said in an earlier post, I was just saying Zad's argument was just a little bit paradoxal with what had been going on with all of the Metallica hype these days, and yeah, I said it like an asshole, but I'm a fucking welder and I work like 50 hours a week in a goddamn steel factory, I already get shit from the police and government, so cut me some slack if sometimes I get pissed of for no reason at all, it's just because I'm tired and/or drunk out of my mind, or it might just be because I'm canadian, either way, rock on man, I salute you. :dio:
