Fine; but is there such a difference between that and 'faggot'? That one is shocking and one isn't is only because of what society tells us, and that you're more likely to hear faggot, since hating on the gays is still more socially acceptable than hating black people. If life were consistent, both words would be equally banned.

Of course there is! Criticising women for female behaviour v criticising blacks/gays for 'typically' black/gay behaviour - there's a clear difference.

Ultimately, which of these appear on a forum about Metal doesn't matter that much, but saying things like you did before, that people are only racist because it's forbidden, is ridiculous. Ideally, yes, sexism would be banned too, but it's even more commonplace in society than homophobia is - combating it is beyond even us.

This isn't Workers United, this is Metal Reviews - racism is not allowed, homophobia is impossible to police although it should be equally outlawed, and feel free to be sexist if you don't mind other people thinking ill of you. Such is teh internets.

Third paragraph: Metal reviews has an inconsistent policy, so what? that's part of the reason I said I didn't feel anything, including racism, should be banned here.

Yeah, this is circular, so I won't bother repeating myself. If you feel that strongly, then either work against it by policing the forums for all offensive language, or don't bother - you're a mod too, after all.

I'm speaking here as a representative of the site, as I inferred before: ideally, all -isms would be banned, but since some are clearly worse than others ('nigger' worse than 'woman', obviously, if you're at all intelligent) then it depends. Massive hypocrite? Realist, more like. Fine, things aren't perfect, but they're the next step down. You're saying perfection cannot be achieved, therefore allow everything. Which is insane.

All I'm saying is, ideally, since we don't like people using racist language, they shouldn't use homophobic language. Why do you have a problem with this?

even the racism ban i disagree with. i don't like people using certain terms, but hey. fact is 99% of the people here control themselves without any mod having to warn them.
