Municipal Waste is great for pre-drinking with friends before hitting the pubs. Otherwise I have really been into Avenger Of Bloods "Death Brigade" album, sounds like old-school Kreator. Awesome shit.

indeed +1

I'd have to say Hexen is the only new thrash band that I find to be worth listening to. Everything else is just....boring. No offense to the bands, they do play that style extremely well, and they certainly look the part (though that's not important at all). They do, for the most part, all lack creativity and inspiration. Even the old thrash metal bands seem to be suffering from this same problem. Tis a shame.

Come on now, Bonded by Blood does stand out a little bit no? Yeah the name is not original, but musically they are much different than any other of the new bands.

Check out Razormaze. They're a new band from Boston. I saw them open for Deceased. They fuckin rip like early Testament/Exodus.

oh great, another one. These retro thrash bands are poppin up all over the place. It seems to be the new fad. 15 years ago every band wanted to sound like Helloween. The last 10 years have been the ruined by thousands of melodic death metal bands, now thrash is back in vogue. These little metallic mood swings are horrible for advancing metal, this is tough for a classic metal enthusiast like myself to admit. It just sucks the creativity right out of the music, especially when the movement is referred to as "retro". Of course there will always be good bands that pop up in these little fads, but for the most part this is just saturating heavy metal with clone bands. Feels like the late 80's again.

@HolyTerror: What makes Hexen so much better than the aforementioned bands other than that you heard them first?

Their music is not highly generic and "retro".

I do advise you all to check Hexen out, as thrashtildeath mentioned, they take a much more genuine old-school route. Plus, Holy Terror likes them.

You guys, seriously. Seriously, you guys.

I found two Hexen on metal archives which one is the good one?

Also, I'm amazed nobody mentioned The Law, their debut, Distorted Anthems From The Suburbs (2008), is a fun thrash meta vocals with melodic vocals that kind of reminds me of some thrash made in the 80s in the US (Realm for example). You guys should check this Swedish band asap.

how are they overrated?...because they sound like everyone else?....how many new bands really bring back the essence of classic thrash? a few...most bands that come out nowadays are overrated....its nice for a change to hear a band that can play and keep it going for 10 or 11 songs

Yes, because they sound like everyone else. Each and every one of these new-thrash bands sound pretty darn similar, and they're all out to try and 'bring back the essence of classic thrash'. Evile just aren't original enough to rise above the rest, unfortunately. Sure, they can play, but I'll take a thrash band that was actually around in the 80s over them any day.

well i agree with u on that, i would most definatly take an 80's thrash band, but when i look at the bands that are coming out in metal, especially new ones, im just not that impressed, so maybe it was a change to see something that I love being brought back

Bands I'd listen to over Evile:

Gama Bomb
Hexen
Bonded By Blood
Dekapitator
Bywar
.
.
.
.
.
.
Merciless Death
Violator
.
.
.
.
.
turn off my iPod/computer/stereo/etc
.
.
.
.
Evile

By the time I make my way down to Evile, I am "retro" thrashed out.

I also forgot to mention how I'd listen to new Kreator, Tankard, Destruction, etc etc etc or Evile.

I'll say it again, Evile = Overrated

Out of the retro mentioned, I'd only take Hexen or Dekapitator over Evile. Haven't listened much of Bywar but I wasn't initially impressed.

Some Bywar is dull, but other Bywar is awesome. It depends on what you have heard by them.
