I'm really flabbergasted by the rating and the lambasting you gave to this album! And the demeaning accusation and mentioning of the discrediting and horrible word 'metalcore' in describing their style. I mean, I haven't still heard the
whole album, but they are very much rooted in old school (bay arean) thrash - very much more than some of the current up-and-comers.
I listened to 5 full songs from their website (the first 4, plus
Held Beneath) and liked the first 2 the best. Dunno why u digged
Behind Immortal Eyes above everything else... Maybe it was the attempt towards something more melodic, but with the chug chug riffs you mentioned, it didn't really crab me at all. It was one of the least ones I liked from the chosen few, and also the only one where I noticed the "boring chug chug riffs". Yeah, didn't listen them all, but
1 out of 5 so...
Also, as a side note, found a review from
Metal Temple where the guy is praising Imagika for their old merits for
4 full paragraphs before finally on the second to last paragraph gets to the actual album and says it not as great as their earlier ones
He might be right. But I think you were unfoundedly harsh on your review.
I even noticed you like Overkill and Exodus too, I'm a big fan too. So I dunno what's your feud with Imagika then? I've been a fan of them since their first album. I think they are, or at least on their previous albums, a mix of Exodus and more recently Iced Earth. Maybe you don't like Iced Earth then?
