Don't listen to people who say iPods suck.

although for your purposes I'd say you might be better off with one of the new 80 Gig ones rather than the Touch.

I think they have 120 gigs now.

Crazy.

But yeah, standard iPods > touch, phone, anything else.

Currently rather down on any iPods due to:

1. Having to convert my WMAs with iTunes
2. The whole 300-charges-then-you're-buggered deal

Might just get another Sony, tbh, since they do make damn good little machines. 16GB plus radio for £100 is a great deal, especially since I got my current 8GB one for the same, sans radio. Might not get another at all, and find something else for sis. We'll see.

The only reason why I hated using Itunes in the past, it would take a few days to convert it all(and you basically have the same song twice on your computer). Now I just convert wma's to mp3 with another program, make proper tags and put them in Itunes. I've been busy with that all week and I just started on the letter K :lame:

I have an 80GB iPod and it has issues... I guess about 5% of what I load onto it doesn't work, so you have to re-upload it from CD and put it on again which is a pain in the arse. Also, the circular motion you use to scroll is always on the blink so it can be hard to scroll. (and impossible to play Vortex :omfg: )

Also, i link it up to my computer to play music every day, so if you are correct about the "300 charges and you're buggered" rule, it's going to be fucked in well under a year.

I used to have a decrepit old chunky 20GB iRiver, for about 3 years, although pretty much the last year of that three it was dying on its arse anyway. Still, when it was in its prime it was more reliable than the iPod.

I guess I'm biased because I've never had any problems with my iPod, but they've been really good to me. Especially in comparison to the 3-4 other MP3 players I had prior, all of which sucked--and I had an iRiver and a Creative Zen in there. I think I might do better with the others now since I know technology better, but for me there's no question that iTunes is THE best music synching program. Just set it so that you manage your music manually (not so that it synchs automatically) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Is there any way to clear your entire iTunes library? I go through a shitload of music every month and I never keep more than 5 albums on my hard drive at once. Still, the iTunes library is full of old fucking shit that I haven't had on my computer since last year and there is no way of removing it, except for clicking delete on every single file. iTunes is in serious need of some fundamental stuff, like buttons you actually have some use for. There should be a put-all-this-shit-on-the-iPod-button, and a remove-all-this-shit-button. I just don't get why they had to make so many menus, tabs and buttons that I will never have any use for.

Stuff like this really grinds my shit, and is the only down-side with having an iPod for me. Also, I have a shitty computer and iTunes runs really slowly, I mean come on. It's a program that you put music on your mp3-player with, how the hell can it run poorly, it's not Crysis.

I'm pretty sure that if you click a song then scroll down and shift-click another song it will select all the songs in between, which makes it easy to delete or move large sections of music.

I think there is some clean-up function? I can't remember, but if there is one to remove any duplicates, there should be one to remove things that don't exsist? :P

.:crast:.

I had wmp, started duplicating and/or tripling everything and losing where the files were, pissed me off to no end.

Went to itunes, had the same problem with quicktime! had to re-install it >< Then it was just so slow and I had lots of my music in wma format (by accident/ignorance really) and I started transferring it but got over that quick.

Now I just open the folder with all my music, right click on the folder I want, play in winamp. Fuck putting the music in a program's library, so much fucking hassle, and winamp still sends all my shit to last.fm so it's all good

I have an 80GB ipod, it's great. They aren't overpriced, I bought mine for around 200euro, and my bro just got a 160gb one for even less than that. Also stay away from the Creative Zen Touch, fucking expensive and not enough features to warrant the price, which was around 450euros.

Stop! Halt! Don't move! Seriously man I've had so many problems with my 4 GB Ipod Nano. I won't turn off correctly, it doesn't always charge right, and worst of all, it only has 3.66 GB of memory. Apple shorts you on memory. I bought a Microsoft Zune 120 GB for $250.00 That's about the price of my Nano. It also has a wide screen for video playing. It's waayyyyy easier and cheaper.

Go Zune...

Holy crap!!! That's overpriced as Hell!!! My mother told me it cost her about $50 for a small lunch in Paris. Whenever we go to visit family in Italy we spend so much money. It's kind of sad. And it's not even b/c of currency conversion. It's all overpriced even after the horrors of losing so much cash into Euro...
