Easter itself was originally a holiday devoted to Eostre, the goddess of Spring. Christianity recycled pretty much everything from the halos to the number of disciples...

Your first sentence is correct. But your second isn't. Halos have nothing to do with Christianity. They're just visual imagery often used in art to symbolize divinity. Meanwhile, while there are similarities between Christianity and other religions, many of them (including the "number of disciples" argument you just gave) have been shown even by secular scholars to be either exaggerations or outright falsehoods. Only recently "rediscovered" by scholastically-inept conspiracy theorists.

The religion Christianity bears the most resemblance to is Judaism. In fact, technically, it's an off-shoot of the Jewish religion.

it seems to me that a lot of people who celebrate Christmas completely ignore that aspect, which is fine and all, because Christmas is a great excuse to hang out with family and be charitable and all, but if its not about Jaysus at all... Whats the point?

Well, maybe to have some fun? To spread joy and happiness to the people around you. Being together with friends and family, showing you care about them. I also find christmas to be a great time where people can put away their indifferences and a time to forgive each other.... lots of reasons why we should continue, even though the Jesus thing is kinda ignored. ( I know... it's a cliche)

Well, certainly in the mainstream media it's ignored. Which, being that not everybody's Christian, is admittedly understandable. But if you look at how a lot of individual families celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus probably gets much more emphasis than it does in the mainstream media.

Yeah. In many ways It would be better if Jesus had replaced santa as the front figure of christmas ('cause now, santa is more important in christmas than jesus).

Favourite Christmas Carols : mmm don't have one

Favourite Christmas food: meat pie

Christmas List: I'd realy like a new T.V but it's too much to ask for.

What you love about Christmas: The hole spirit of it and especially spending time with my parents and sibling. I usually spend about two weeks of time with my parents duraing the holidays. Good times!

What you're getting Cara for Christmas: uuh, are you trying to extort gifts from us ? Haven't you learned it's better to give than receive ? :P

What you hate about Christmas: the commercial side of it, and every shop, store manufacturer trying to pimp their merchandise.

Favourite Christmas movies/programs: Lethal Weapon and Die Hard even if they aren't true Christmas movies
