So planning to upgrade my video card.

I can choose from
Asus GeForce 9600GT 512 MB -- 111 €
Asus GeForce 9800GT 512 MB -- 162 €

So yeah, I've heard the 9800 is not that much better than the 9600, is it worth the +50€?

I have a 9800, no problems with it, but have no idea about performance etc. 162 Euros sounds quite expensive, I'd look for a better deal than that. And if it's for an existing PC, make sure you have a PCI express slot, as it doesn't work with the normal PCI slots as far as I know.

Get the 9600, subsequent drivers can ramp it up to the level of the 9800. Fifty euros more for that small a difference is nowhere near worth it.

I have a palit 9600gt sonic. That comes overclocked by default. It's almost as good as the 8800 but there might be some difference in 9800. I played Crysis on maximum with it without much problem, I guess that's a good enough benchmark. I wouldn't pay an extra 50$ for the 9800.
