Very underwhelming after the awesome In Thy Power. Burning Point have just announced their new album release so this should be great. I'm hoping it'll make up for it.

A good album but one that could have been so much more and rounds up a year that was pretty lacking in power metal, IMO. Maybe because death metal was so strong in 2008? Maybe. 2009 is looking better so there's still hope for us power metal fans. :D

I never gotten into Cryonic Temple because they don't do nothing for me. IMHO they're just another generic power metal band with nothing really catchy or memorable.

Really? That's probably because I tend to dislike and avoid major staples of the genres. For example, Gamma Ray never did much for me. I tend to hang with more underground bands. They're nothing original to those who listen(ed) to the forefathers but for the rest (like me), they do what they do pretty damn well. There's plenty of underground power bands that aren't original but are great at their game such as Cryonic Temple, Olympos Mons and Timeless Miracle (the last one being a criminally unknown band).

I tell you what, I never really liked this band before. I thought of them as generic power metal via Helloween, Manowar, or Hammerfall.

However I do like this album very much!!!

I commend the band here for totally dropping the cheese factor and showing that they take themselves and there music seriously! They sound closer to a band like Brainstorm now while still retaining a few more power metal elements done up in a more mature way.

I mean really a band like this has to do this at some point don't they? Otherwise you would just continue putting out typical generic power metal albums over and over again. Never evolving never changing ala Hammerfall. Sure Hammerfall may have been fun for the first few albums but after a while it just gets stale and there is nowhere to go. Just look at what Hammerfall has become today. The brunt of all jokes and a band which nobody respects. Wisely Cryonic Temple realized this and want to avoid this fate.

P.S. Love the new singer! Much Much better IMO.
