At least noodles gives reasons as to why he doesn't like it.

That other ass just repeats the same shit over and over again.

Last time I checked, all the black metal bands I listen to play actual music. Thrash bands (at least these retro sorts) just leech off of older bands, leaving the genre as a sad, sad wasteland.

And the reason why I repeat myself, Mr. Nut, is because it's true. Thrash metal is a dead beast.

Says you, the one trick pony.

Nobody cares what you have to say, when you say the same shit every damn time. Get over yourself, and try something new for a change.

If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Pretty damn simple eh?

If Thrash Metal is dead, then why are so many Thrash bands still around releasing albums? New Thrash bands are still popping up here and there. I hardly call that dead.

And if you don't like Thrash, that's perfectly fine, but there's no point sniping out every thread that has something to do with Thrash and spouting the same old shit all over it.

But it makes him cool to come in and say that he doesn't like it.

Like we care. Get a life.

But that's just bigoted nonsense! Most decent Black Metal bands don't make noise or pretend to be vampires (we'll leave your Europhobia aside for the moment) and applying something as mind-crushingly ignorant like that to an entire genre is worse than saying that Thrash all sounds the same, because face it, most of it does, esp. the new shit. Of the bands Octo mentioned, Lugubrum, Caina and Benighted Leams are very musical (not heard the other) and none are vampire-wannabes (wampires?).

And yes, I know your tongue was probably rooting around in your cheek when you wrote that, and mine is too, but still. You like Trivium, so stfu purleez kthxbai.

No, it's just called beating the dead horse.

Says you, the one trick pony.

I do like some thrash. Kreator, Metallica, Megadeth. But it's inevitable that things start to run together, because thrash takes no chances, and that -- along with the retro-thrash movement -- is where it fails. This is a genre that hasn't progressed an inch since its conception; the only good thing to come out of it is black metal, which is constantly offering up different slices of sound. Why? Because the black metal genre isn't inhabited by folk like you. You, and all thrash metal fans, are the reason why it hasn't moved an inch.

So, congrats.

I kind of agree that thrash metal needs some new ideas, even though I don't think that it sucks. I really feel like once you've heard Megadeth, Slayer, Metallica, and maybe Kreator/Sodom, you've pretty much heard it all.

What about Heathen then? They're not entirely the same? Not Sepultura either for that matter

Coroner? Destruction? Overkill? Heathen? Voivod? Mekong Delta? Tankard? Holy Moses? Sepultura? Death Angel? Nuclear Assault? DRI? Suicidal Tendences? Testament? Anthrax?
All are thrash, and all very distinctive from the ones you mentioned.
(and tons of good bands more)

And Forbidden... This week classic review :dio: :dio: :dio: :dio:

I haven't gotten around to listening to them, yet, but I was intending to.

Do that.. Victims of Deception is their best, but I think Breaking the Silence is the best place to start, as it is less diverse and the songs are shorter.

almost all the black metal i've heard doesn't have any musical ideas i can sink my teeth into so it's just like listening to droning guitar noise, and no matter how far the genre "progresses" it still ends up sounding like "droning guitar noise + sometimes other stuff!!" thrash on the other hand like Coroner, Dekapitator, Artillery, Overkill, etc is a limitless wealth of great ideas and doesn't need to leach from other genres in order to play actual music.

Clearly you haven't listened to enough Black Metal, then. Simple as that.

Lies. Or if so, you haven't heard the right bands. Name me ten Progressive Thrash bands, and I'll name ten Progressive Black bands, and I'll have twenty before you have five.
