Well Jon Arch era Fates Warning sounds less like Queensryche than Adler era Fates Warning. Fates Warning on the second two albums sounds like only Fates Warning can. No other band can sound that way. With Alder however, they began to sound like you're typical power metal type band from America...aka early Queensryche. So now if we take the two proggier epochs of each band...the jon Arch era in fates Warning, and the Mind Crime-Rage for Order era of Queensryche, and compare the two, they share very basic characteristics...that being they're both considered progressive, but if you compare the riffs, the vocals, the lyrics...everything else is different. You fail. You're knowledge of classic metal is found to be lacking.

Honestly, I don't think you even bothered with 'A Pleasant Shade Of Grey' or 'Disconnected', because those are FAR from power metal. Then again, they aren't classic metal (whatever the fuck that is), hence they wouldn't get the time of day from you.

I gave em a spin, just out of respect for Fates Warning and their metallic legacy...however, I was....er suprised to say the least. Gone was the mystic prog that I so loved from this band....and Adler is just plain boring compared to Arch. And when we say "classic metal" we do not mean a genre of metal, merely that a certain metal band, or album has achieved classic status. So, since "classic" is a status, it would be utterly foolish for people not to prefer "classic metal", since the bands, or albums, by achieving classic status, have elevated themselves above the crowd of other non-classic metal bands, or albums.

And all of this "old guy" crap, is just that, crap, and complete nonsense. I'm 25, I just happen to prefer older metal, and since one of the defining characteristics of "classic metal" is that it survive the test of time, it would not be unreasonable for me to say that there is a greater number of older "classic" bands...makes sense even on a third grade level.

So that is my final statement on Fates Warning. Old material = classic. New material = bored musicians trying to sound "more mature".

Nah. I think they were just tired of playing the 'limited' music you seem to enjoy. New Fates Warning kicks the shit out of this.

Period.

Black Sabbath
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Accept
Dio
Saxon
W.A.S.P.

... Just to mention a few of the more known bands playing Classic Metal (or Traditional Heavy Metal).

Well I guess somebody has to buy that crap from them.....it might as well be you, that way there's less people out there looking for good metal albums that I want.

We do agree on one thing though: He should continue buying those shitty ass new FW albums so I don't have to see them all in the used bin at the local record.
